MPA Minute
September 2024
From the Principal:
Happy Labor Day MPA Families:
I hope you have the weekend you are hoping full of friends, family and fun or rest, relaxation, and restoration. It's up to you to make it great! Here are a few reminders and tips.
- This year has been off to a great start. Thank you for getting your child here on time. Our student tardies are down. Getting to school on time sets your child up for a successful day. Keep it up.
- A big thank you to the parents who have started volunteering through the PTA or directly with their child's teacher. Your support makes our school the best in the land.
- Early dismissals at 2:00 PM are on the rise. Please remember that is our busiest time of the day. Often times parents have to wait 5 - 10 minutes for the child to make it to the office. It is helpful if you avoid end of the day pick ups and tell the teacher in advance so your child can be packed and ready. Attached below is our early dismissal form. When parents send these in, we make every effort to have your child on the way to the office before your arrival.
- Don't forget to label your child's belongings. When lost and found gets full we end up with lots of items that look exactly alike. Also, children often do not remember what they are looking for in lost and found. First initial and last names are most helpful.
- If you need to drop something off in the office, it should have your child's name and class on it.
From the PTA:
The PTA has had a great start to the year. We have cleared the garden beds, purchased and set up a Ga Ga Ball pit on the playground, and hosted our first event. None of this would be possible without your support. Keep an eye open for our upcoming events.
If you were unable to attend the Back to School Bash last night you missed a treat. Our PTA did an amazing job hosting hundreds of students and families.
Please consider supporting the PTA membership drive. Our PTA will be hosting a GLOW party for 30 students whose families join the PTA. All PTA members will be put into a raffle. Also, look for our wrapping paper sale packet to come home late next week.
There is still time to get your ice cream tickets. Tickets are $40 for the year. This will insure your child gets the Friday ice cream treat each week. Use the QR code below to purchase a ticket. The first day of ice cream sales is Friday, September 6. You can use the QR code below or this LINK to the MemberHub store.
Thank you for your support,
Lauren Hamel

Clinic Tips & Reminders
Nurse Jen has been the most popular person in the building these past couple of weeks. She has had a clinic full of students every day. Many of them come in and tell a story about how bad they felt at home, how high their fever was at home, and how they were given meds and told to visit the nurse if they don't feel better. If this story sounds familiar, we need your help.
Sending child to school when they don't feel well may buy you a couple of hours of time, but in that time your child has probably been in the clinic three times. Here are a couple of tips that may help us all:
- Make sure your child is fever free for 24 hours without medication before they return to school.
- If your child is complaining about going to school, but is not sick give the teacher a heads up. This way they can make decisions about clinic visits with all of the key information.
- Remind your child the clinic is full of yucky germs. It's not a place to go "hang out." Some students refuse to leave once they get that "golden ticket."
- Tired and sick feel the same to a child, so if your child needs extra sleep let them sleep in.
- Keep up your bedtime routine so your children get enough sleep.
Our goal is to make sure your child gets the most out of their time in school. If they are sick or not feeling well, they are getting "seat time" but not learning time. It is better to keep them home than send them and get that 7:45 AM call from Nurse Jen to come pick up your child.
As always, thank you for your support.
