A Message from Principal Tellechea
Hello Chapman Families,
October was an active month of good progress for students. Now that it is November, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our Chapman community. At Chapman, we are grateful for our students and their unique gifts and strengths they bring to our learning community. We are grateful for our staff and the countless hours of dedication and hard work they put in for our students. We are grateful for our families for their support and encouragement to be the best school we can possibly be for our students.
Parent-Teacher conferences are happening this month. A parent-teacher conference is an excellent opportunity for families to meet with teachers to discuss their child's progress. Be sure to reach out to your child's teacher to set up a meeting time. Please note that we have no school on Friday, November 15th and Minimum Days every day the week of November 18th-22nd for parent teacher conferences.
The days are now much shorter, and the cooler weather is definitely upon us. Please remind your children to dress for outdoor play, as students go outside for recesses, at lunchtime, as well as before school, and PE. Label jackets and sweaters with student names, so that lost items can be identified easily.
The Chapman Newsletter is a monthly newsletter that provides a current calendar of school events. It also contains articles related to school activities and important links. It is emailed home monthly and also available online on our website at http://chapman.chicousd.org/Newsletter/index.html
Please feel free to call the office at 530-891-3100 or reach out to us by email if we can assist your family in any way.
Sincerely,
Cristi Tellechea

Fall Festival
Below are some pictures from our Fall Festival. Thank you to Knife River Construction for loaning us the extra lights and Pedal Press for screen-printing Fall Festival t-shirts. Also a big thank you to our Chapman staff, parents, and the students from Chico Jr., Fairview, and VOCES Latinx de Chico High for running all the fun activities. It was a spectacular night!
National Native American Heritage Month
National Native American Heritage Month, observed each November, is a time to recognize and honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American peoples. It provides an opportunity for everyone to learn about the diverse histories and experiences of Native American communities, which are often underrepresented in mainstream narratives. Celebrating this month helps us understand the importance of respecting different cultures and learning from the past. It also highlights the resilience and enduring presence of Native Americans today, fostering a sense of inclusivity and cultural awareness. By exploring Native American heritage, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity that strengthens our society.
Veterans Day-November 11th
Veterans Day, observed on November 11th, is a day to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It provides an important opportunity for everyone to recognize the sacrifices and dedication of military veterans who have worked to protect our freedoms. Celebrating Veterans Day reminds us of the courage and commitment it takes to serve our country, both in times of war and peace. By learning about the experiences of veterans and acknowledging their contributions, we foster a deeper sense of gratitude and respect for those who have dedicated their lives to service. This day encourages us to reflect on the values of patriotism, sacrifice, and community that veterans exemplify.
