Principal Updates
Ohio State Tests
Testing season is upon us! Students have shown their hard work and growth throughout the school year and are now ready to show their learning on our Ohio State Tests.
Below is a breakdown of the state testing days for NRAC for the rest of April:
April 16-17 - Elementary/Middle School Science (grades 5-8)
April 23-24 - Elementary/Middle School Math (Grades 3-8)
Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 am on testing days. Make-up days/times will be determined after the initial testing day/time has been completed. Middle School students enrolled in HS level courses with state tests will take the state tests on the days listed above.
To help students prepare at home for testing, please be sure students get adequate sleep and get a healthy breakfast. Students should make sure to charge their chromebook nightly and also bring headphones and a computer mouse (if needed) on the days of their tests.
If you have questions about state testing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, your child’s associate principal or teacher(s). We are excited for our students to show their learning on the state tests!

Food Services Student/Parent Survey
Aramark is pleased to present the Student ViewPOINT survey to gather valuable feedback from students and parents. The survey is available in two versions: one for middle and high school students and another for parents of elementary-level students. Parents can take the elementary-level survey with or without their children, and their feedback will aid us in enhancing our food service program. We look forward to hearing from you!
The survey will run for five weeks, from April 8 to May 13, 2024.
Please find the following important information regarding the food service program survey. The survey is an electronic form that can be filled out easily on any device and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Your participation is essential as it will help us to improve the food service program. To access the survey, please click on www.studentVP.com and enter the passcode '2024' when prompted for security purposes. For elementary students, a letter with a QR code is attached.
We sincerely hope you will join us in this important initiative to help us enhance our service to North Ridgeville students. Your feedback is invaluable to us. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at lesliemckimmie@nrcs.net or 440-353-1138.
Safety and Security Update
Our transportation department has noticed a lot of students crossing the streets in front of buses and cars on their way home from school. As the weather warms up, more students will be walking. Please talk with your students about using sidewalks and crosswalks to walk home safely from school.
NRAC will be holding a Tornado Drill on April 24 at 2:00 pm.
Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures
As a reminder to parents who pick up students from school at the end of the day, please follow the appropriate pick up procedures at the end of the day. Please refrain from using the main entrance staff parking lot to pick up students at the end of the day. This is causing a safety concern as buses are loading students and leaving promptly at the end of the school day. If there is a special circumstance that requires your students to be picked up from the main parking lot, please notify our office.
Congratulations to Scarlett Grimm
Congratulations to Scarlet G., award-winning essayist in Mrs. Koehler’s 7th grade Honors ELA class! Scarlet was honored at the Maltz Museum Stop the Hate Award Ceremony held at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Wednesday evening.
With over 4,000 students in more than 100 schools participating in the contest, Scarlet was selected as 1 of 2 grade level finalists!
Not only were they celebrated at the prestigious ceremony, Scarlet was also awarded a $100 cash prize. Additionally, their essay was recorded for the Maltz Museum Stop the Hate campaign and is featured on the website to inspire far and wide.
In ELA class, students wrote personal essays as a culminating activity in a unit examining the essential question: “how do people, as individuals and as a society, change for the better?” Having read multiple texts and participated in the Stop the Hate Songwriting & Poetry residency, students were challenged to connect their learning to relevant experiences confronting personal bias, injustice, and/or exclusion. Exceptional student work was strongly encouraged to enter the Stop the Hate Youth Essay Contest.
Scarlet, you are an agent of change and the epitome of being Ranger STRONG!

Spelling Bee Champions!
One of NRAC's Spelling Bee finalists, Cayley Anne Anderson, won the Lorain County Spelling Bee last night! She is going to the Scripps National Spelling Bee!
Enclosed are photos of both our finalists, the other being Cassidy Anderson. Tammi Belko and I attended the Spelling Bee to support our un-bee-lieveable (couldn't help myself) Rangers and we cannot emphasize enough just how admirably well both represented North Ridgeville!
An article was published in The Chronicle and can be viewed here.
Also, as pictured, we have a sizable trophy to proudly display in our building to honor our champ!
North Ridgeville School District Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Parent Survey
In an effort to improve the safety of arrival and dismissal procedures at NRAC, we are participating in a Safe Routes to School survey to gather more information from you. Below is a link to the survey. Please complete the survey to provide your feedback.
Additionally, you may observe members of the SRTS team observing arrival and dismissal procedures. These members may have a vest on and may be collecting data using a clipboard or electronic device. Please know that they are on our school property to gather data on arrival and dismissal procedures. Team members are planning to be in the field conducting walk audits and arrival/dismissal observations on Wednesday, May 8th and Thursday, May 9th.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
