Matador Matters- August
From the Principal
Dear Matador Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am thrilled to welcome each of you back to another exciting year of learning, growth, and community at Estacado High School. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are delighted to have you as part of our school family. This year's theme is "Building Fearless Leaders." In an ever-changing world, it is essential that we cultivate leadership qualities in our students that empower them to face challenges with courage, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility. Our goal is to inspire every student to develop the confidence to lead in their own unique way, whether that be in the classroom, during extracurricular events, or in the community. As we gather once again, we are reminded of the incredible potential within each of our students. Our commitment to fostering leadership skills is stronger than ever, and this year’s theme perfectly encapsulates the essence of our mission “Transforming Lives”. In addition to our academic programs, we are excited to offer a variety of extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities designed to enhance students' skills and passions. From student council to service projects, every student will have the chance to step up and shine.
L - Lead with Purpose: This year, we challenge each of you to step forward and embrace your roles as leaders, whether in the classroom, on the field, or within the wide community.
E - Engaged and Empowered: We encourage you to be fully present in your academic journey, asking questions, participating actively, and embracing challenges.
A - Accountable for Excellence: True leaders hold themselves accountable for their actions and choices. Strive for excellence in all that you do, from your studies to your interactions with peers and teachers.
D - Determined to Achieve: In the face of adversity, stay resolute and maintain focus on your goals. Through determination, you will overcome challenges and achieve remarkable feats.
I encourage you to be actively involved in your child's education and to work closely with our teachers and staff. Together, we can create a supportive environment that nurtures our students' potential and prepares them for the future and becoming a fearless leader. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and success for all our students. Let’s work together to build the leaders of tomorrow!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Wilbanks

STUDENT PARKING
All student vehicles parking on the campus must obtain a parking permit to avoid getting fined and/or booted. This year, additional student parking has been added to the NORTH parking lot facing Itasca St (see PDF for details). Please complete the form below to register your vehicle. Seniors painting their spot must have the graphic approved prior to painting.
STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS
All incoming freshman will receive a new chromebook device. This will be their device for the entirety of their high school career within LISD. Any replacement or repairs will be handled through the school and charged to the student account. Returning students will be able to pick up their chromebook through the library at the beginning of the year.
Chromebook Distribution will occur in the library through English classes
August 15 - Freshman and Sophmores (Eng 1 and 2)
August 16- Juniors and Seniors (Eng 3 and 4)
24-25 PTA
Please consider joining the Estacado PTA. Being a high school PTA member offers several advantages. You can advocate for your child's education and have a say in school decisions. PTAs also connect you with teachers and keep you informed. By joining, you contribute to a strong school community and support valuable programs for students. There are flexible volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule, and even small contributions can make a big difference.
Teachers on the Rise honors deserving teachers. This program is all about giving teachers the recognition they deserve. The teachers at Estacado work hard to create a positive learning environment and inspire their students. A nomination shows them that their efforts are appreciated. Winning teachers get gift cards and other goodies, and the students who nominate them get a prize too! So it's a win-win for everyone involved. You can nominate a teacher online at the Mrs. Baird's website. All you need to do is write a short explanation of why your teacher deserves to win. So if you have an Estacado teacher who goes the extra mile, why not take a few minutes to nominate them? It's a great way to show them how much you appreciate them
OUR CAMPUS BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
The Estacado High School staff wants to ensure a positive and productive learning environment for all students. To achieve this, we've implemented our schoolwide behavior matrix. This is essentially a giant cheat sheet that outlines expected student behaviors in different areas of the school, like classrooms and hallways. The matrix will be displayed around the school and provided to parents so everyone is on the same page about what good behavior looks like. By working together, we can create a more positive learning experience for all Estacado students.
