We are excited to announce the launch of Guardian Email Summaries for Google Classroom at Daniel Wright Junior High School.
What are Guardian Email Summaries?
Guardian Email Summaries in Google Classroom allow parents/guardians to opt-in to receive daily or weekly emails with updates on three areas:
- Missing Work
- Upcoming Work: Assignments due soon (today/tomorrow for daily emails, or in the upcoming week for weekly emails).
- Classroom Activities: Announcements, assignments, and materials recently posted by teachers.
Why are we launching Guardian Email Summaries?
- To enhance school to home communication and to encourage school-related conversations at home.
Please Note:
- Guardian Summaries do not show grades. TeacherEase remains the official gradebook for Daniel Wright Junior High School students. While some teachers may provide feedback through Google Classroom, official grades will not be posted there. To view your child’s grades, please visit TeacherEase.
- Not all classwork or homework is assigned through Google Classroom. Please log in to TeacherEase to find a complete list of assignments.
- Guardian Email Summaries will not provide you direct access to Google Classroom. They only outline missing assignments, upcoming/new activities, and classroom announcements.
- Signing up for Guardian Email Summaries is optional. If you sign up but then decide that you would like to opt out, each summary email has a “Notification settings” button near the bottom that will allow you to unsubscribe.
How to Sign Up for Guardian Summaries:
If you were part of the Guardian Email Summaries Pilot, or if you already receive regular emails from Google Classroom with updates about your child, there is nothing further you need to do. If you are not currently receiving regular emails from Google Classroom about your child, but would like to, please use the following information to sign up.
You will receive an invitation from no-reply@classroom.google.com on Tuesday, November 19, to the email address you have on file with D103 in PowerSchool. If you choose to sign up for Guardian Email Summaries, you may opt out at any time.
How to Accept the Guardian Summaries Invitation:
- Open the invitation in your email program.
- Double-check the student name, then select whether you want to receive daily or weekly email summaries.
- Click Accept to confirm.
- Both you and your student will receive an email confirmation after accepting the invitation.
If you don’t receive an invitation, it’s likely because you’ve already signed up for Guardian Summaries in the past. In that case, you will begin receiving the summaries automatically.
