Madison Memo
April 2025
A Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to encourage our students to stay focused, engaged, and motivated! Warmer weather and thoughts of summer break can sometimes make it challenging to stay on track, but with your support, we can help our students finish strong.
Keeping Students Engaged & Motivated
Celebrate Progress – Recognize your child’s hard work and accomplishments, no matter how small. A little encouragement can go a long way!
Set Goals – Help your child set short-term academic and personal goals to stay motivated. This could be finishing a book, improving in a subject, or completing homework on time.
Keep a Routine – Maintaining a structured schedule helps students stay on track and reinforces good study habits.
Overcoming "Spring Fever" & Maintaining Attendance
Consistency is Key – Regular attendance is crucial for learning and success. Every school day matters!
Create a Positive Mindset – Talk to your child about the importance of finishing strong and making the most of these last weeks.
Stay Connected – Encourage your child to stay engaged in classroom activities, school events, and learning opportunities.
Homework & Study Tips for a Strong Finish
Designate a Study Space – A quiet, organized space can help minimize distractions.
Use a Homework Plan – Help your child break assignments into manageable steps and set a schedule to complete them on time.
Encourage Review & Practice – Reviewing notes, practicing math problems, and reading daily will reinforce learning and boost confidence.
We appreciate your continued support in helping your child make the most of these final weeks of school. Let’s work together to ensure a strong finish and set the stage for success in the year ahead!
Thank you for being our partners in education. Please reach out if you have any questions or if we can support your child in any way.
Your Partner in Education,
Jennifer Eichmeier

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
KEEP IN TOUCH
Call the Madison Attendance Hotline at 920-663-9730 on days that your child will not be attending school. The hotline is automated and operates 24 hours a day. Failure to notify our main office means that your child's absence is considered unexcused and subject to truancy policies.
EXCUSED ABSENCE LIMIT
MPSD recognizes a maximum of 10 partial or whole days of excused absences per school year. Excused absences include illness, funerals, vacations and doctor's appointment. All absences beyond these 10 days are considered unexcused, unless a doctor's note is provided to the Madison attendance secretary.
HABITUAL TRUANCY
The State of WI identifies a student as a habitually truant when they are absent from school for 5 or more days in a semester without an acceptable excuse. Students with 5 or more unexcused absences can be issued a citation totaling $439.
UP AND AT 'EM
Breakfast is served in the gym from 7:45-8:05am. If your students plan to eat breakfast, please have them enter though the gym doors during the time listed above. If students are not eating breakfast, students can enter the building beginning at 8:00 am. At 8:10am the school day begins and attendance is taken shortly after. Arriving to school late can make children feel rushed and anxious, which is not a good way to start their day. Sometimes this increases the likelihood of students displaying behaviors. In addition, children can miss out on social interaction, community-building and core instruction.
