Hello Foster's Finest Families,
What a fabulous start to our school day today with the Walk-to-School! The students absolutely had an incredible time. Thank you parents and guardians for walking with your students to school, and for supervising them before they came into the building. It may have been the easiest drop off of the year from a traffic point of view. A huge thank you to our PTO parents for organizing this event!
A few weeks ago, I sent out a link to the placement form for next year. If you have not done so already, please check your email and complete the form by Tuesday. As we are beginning to work on our placement, we do our best to create the best class lists possible and take your feedback into account. Please remember, students grow and develop social skills that they may not have possessed in previous school years.
Wishing you a great weekend!

Juneteenth Student Art Contest – Call for Student Submissions
In 2024, the national theme for Black History Month was “African Americans and the Arts,” intended to highlight the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more. As part of the celebration of Juneteenth in Hingham this year, the Hingham Unity Council is inviting all students in grades Pre K-12 who live and/or attend school on the South Shore to share their views on the theme: What does the rich cultural legacy of Black Americans mean to me and/or my community? Students are invited to express or reflect on this through a work of visual or performance art, an essay or other written work. Students may submit an essay, poem, a piece of visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture – any medium of expression is welcome!), a video or original song or other performance to the Juneteenth committee by Friday, May 31, 2024. More details at https://hinghamunity.org/student-art-contest-call-submissions-2024/

Cleaner Greener Hingham Day is coming April 27, 2024 from 9am - 11am! Gather your friends and family and help us make this annual tradition a success. Sign up using this link to clean up one of the many beautiful spots in Hingham. Please note that the DPW will not be providing trash bags and gloves this year so please bring your own supplies. If you find any needles, do not put them in a trash bag as they are a potential hazard to anyone who handles the bag. If you find any needles, please place inside a water bottle, screw the top on and toss the bottle in the trash bag or bring needles to the Police Department for safe disposal in their sharps disposal bins. Once you have completed your cleanup, please email DPWAdmin@hingham-ma.gov to have your bagged trash picked up. And remember to post any photos on your school or Hingham Facebook pages using the hashtag #CleanerGreenerHinghamDay. Thank you for keeping our town clean!
