Co-founder Michael Baer and his team, who are a model for mentorship, were a 2024 Golden Apple Award winner.
Comprehensive District Improvement Plan: Assessment Director Brooke Stinson noted our main goal is student growth and achievement. Family engagement, an eighth and optional goal for FCPS, is also crucial for the academic and overall well-being of our students. Board Vice Chair Amy Green praised the document, calling it "a great conversation piece to illustrate how we're putting students at the forefront of all our work."
Unity, Belonging, and Student Efficacy: Chief Soraya Matthews shared an update on the Spanish classes offered to staff. Nearly 100 people are volunteering to learn the language and learn more about the culture so they can make stronger connections with our students. In addition, Matthews said the Equity Council Committee will soon announce this year's recipient of the PG Peeples Equity Champion Award.
