Principal's Message
Dear Borchardt Bears Families,
We are so excited to welcome you back to school! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year full of learning, fun, and growth. Our team has been working to ensure a great start to the year to make it the best year yet! We look forward to seeing all our students on Tuesday morning for the first day of school!
Class Lists will be posted on the front door of the school tomorrow morning by 9am. We also invite you to login to Aeries Parent Portal to complete the emergency card and privacy preferences for this year. Once this is complete it will also giver you access to your child's teacher.
Parents and families we invite all of you on Thursday for dinner and to meet your child’s teacher at Back to School Night, food trucks serving at 5:00pm, teacher presentations begin at 6:00pm. Please see the flyers for more information. Enjoy the last little bit of summer and we look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school.

Updated Start and End Times for AM Kinder
AM Kinder classes will now begin at 8:15 AM. The Kinder gate will be locked by 8:20 AM.
Dismissal time for AM Kinder classes will be 12:05 PM. Pick up will be at the Kinder gate. Students will be released to parents or guardians listed on the emergency card ONLY. Please ensure to update this information as needed for your family.

Early Checking out of students
Parents: We're sending a gentle reminder that we are not able to accommodate checking out students within 10 minutes of the end of the school day. Please be patient with our teachers and office staff as the children are dismissed.
Cell Phones and Smart Devices
Parents please see our Cell Phone and Phone Use Policy on page 8 of the student handbook.
Therefore, if a student brings a cell phone or wears and Apple watch (or the like) to school, it must be turned “off” and left in his/her backpack for the entire school day.
LUSD Board Policy 5131
"Use of a cellular/digital telephone, pager, or other mobile communications device during instructional time Such devices shall be turned off in class, except when being used for a valid instructional or other school-related purpose as determined by the teacher or other district employee, and at any other time directed by a district employee. Any device with camera, video, or voice recording function shall not be used in any manner which infringes on the privacy rights of any other person."
Please know that if students need to contact parents, they have access to the phone in the office. The office/teacher needs to be aware of these communications.
