West Elementary students taking part in remediation and/or retesting will be bused to HWS.
K-5th grade remediation/acceleration will be at HWS from 8:00-12:00. Transportation will be provided.
K & 1st will offer only 25 spots total for a program called Bulldog Bookworm at the TK Martin Center. Students at risk of retention will be invited. Students will begin their day at HWS for breakfast, then be bused to TK for the session, and bused back to HWS for lunch. These students will be at HWS for meals only and will not need a classroom.
2nd - 4th grades can hold the following number of spots:
2nd grade: 45 students
3rd grade: 75 (this can be flexible if more spaces are needed due to retest numbers)
4th grade: 45 students
3rd graders needing to take the final retest will come back June 17 to test.
5th grade can hold 30 students.
I am working on finalizing enrichment camps opportunities. A few camp options may be held at HWS.
The majority of enrichment camps will be held at Partnership Middle School June 3-14.
We will only utilize the first floor during these two weeks. Upstairs could begin being cleaned/waxed.
June 10-21 (9 days because of the Juneteenth holiday)
Grades 6-12 will all be at Armstrong from 8:30-3:00.
We will utilize building E for grades 9-12. If numbers are low, we can place all of 6th-12th in E on separate floors.
Lunches will have to be bused over to AJH from HWS. AJH will not have a cafeteria operating during summer.
The first week of June (June 3-7) will be used to register students. Tentative applications are attached. These applications will go to board in May for approval. (Applications are accurate. Information sheets are still being edited.)
Grades 6-8 are able to take up to TWO core classes during Jacket Thrive. These courses will be based off of packets/content created by each school. Students must have a 50 in the class to be eligible.
Block 1 will be 8:30-11:30
Block 2 will be 12:00-3:00
Students taking one course only should arrive by noon. Students taking two courses should arrive by 8:30. (Transportation will be provided AM and PM, but if a student is only taking one course, they will need their own transportation to arrive at school at noon.)
We will use 4 teachers total for grades 6-8. One teacher in each of the 4 core content areas. (I will reach out to PMS and AJH admin teams about teacher selection.)
Grades 9-12 are able to take ONE of the following courses, and the student must have a 50 in the course to be eligible:
English I
English III
English IV
Algebra II
Geometry
World History
9th-12th will utilize a combination of Edmentum and direct instruction and will be required to attend all 9 days from 8:30-3:00 PM. Edmentum courses will need to be created for each of these courses. The pretest will not be utilized to exempt students from content.
We will use 4 teachers total for these courses. (I will reach out to SHS admin about teacher selection.)
First-time online courses will NOT be offered during summer intersession.
For 6th-12 students to receive credit for courses, they must attend every day. More than two absences will drop the student from summer intersession. Students will not be able to finish early.
