One Pill Can Kill Assemblies
Beginning the week of October 30th, all students will participate in an assembly run by the DEA, which focuses on the dangers of fentanyl. Assistant Special Agent in Charge Noah Herzon will present on October 30th to our Seniors, November 1st to our Juniors, November 2nd to our Sophmores, and November 6th to our Freshmen. MICCA State Finals-Marching Band and Colorguard
This Sunday, 10/29, Quincy will host the MICCA State Marching Band Finals at Veterans Stadium! The show will start at 11 am and run till 6 pm, there are great performances lined up all day and the QNQ Band & Colorguard is scheduled to perform at 4:45 p.m. Shuttle parking is available from the back parking lot of QHS to the stadium all day. Come out for a great day of music and to support our students!
Student Support Updates
- Counselors continue to meet with interested 12th-grade students working on their college applications individually. Students doing Early Action or Early Decision receive priority appointments, and then “regular” appointments will begin after November 5th.
- Counselors will visit Dual Enrollment classes with the Quincy College DE Coordinator on October 24th & 25th to discuss the process and review the application and costs.
At the end of September, we held our first Mentor Lunch for 9th-grade and “new-to-our-school” students. We are planning the next Mentor Lunch for the end of October.
Counselors are planning a couple of groups beginning in term 2. A six-week Study Skills group for 9th graders and a Girls' Group for Junior and Senior students are being organized and will start in November.
On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, 10th-grade students in Mr. Herlihy and Ms. Plaskasovitis’ Health class participated in a training with Domestic Violence Ended (DOVE). They learned how to identify unhealthy and abusive relationships and how to help a friend who might be affected.
Student Support organized a successful College Fair for 86 colleges, military, and trades. Hundreds of families and community members in Quincy attended NQHS for this event. Quincy High School will host the next College Fair in October 2024.
Financial Aid Night will be on Thursday, November 2nd, at Quincy High School at 6:00 p.m. North and Quincy High Student Support Services representatives will welcome all students and families.

Thank you to those who were able to join our PAC meeting this past Thursday. Our next meeting will be held on November 16th at 7:00 p.m.

Military Mondays
Over the course of the school year, we will have representatives from each branch of the Military at NQHS. Students will have the opportunity to meet with and talk to representatives from the Armed Forces. Below is a list of days representatives will be at NQHS. Homecoming Dance
NQHS will host our annual Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 28th. The cost of a ticket is 10 dollars, and tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, October 25th during all four lunches. Students will need to fill out a permission form which can be found in the Main Office. Seniors are allowed to bring a guest who does not attend NQHS if they fill out the appropriate forms.

Clubs at NQHS
North Quincy High offers many clubs over the school year. Next week, we will be hosting a club fair to introduce our students to all of the great clubs and activities we have at North.
