My, oh my - where has the time gone. Honestly, I cannot believe we are already mid-way through the winter season. Fall came and went so fast, but I guess that’s what happens when you are having a blast. A lot of great things are happening this winter and things are in full swing. Some of these things are with two of our winter sports, girls’ basketball and wrestling.
Our girls’ basketball team is returning all five starters from last season’s miracle run and our girls are on a mission to prove last year was no fluke. Coach Brown has a star-studded team, and they are out to a hot start on the season at 7-2. Looking to build off last season, our girls have their eyes set on a trophy at the end of the season and we look forward to cheering them on and getting there.
Our wrestling program is off to a great start as well. To start this season our wrestling team was ranked as the #1 team in 1A for team rankings. We also have 4 individuals ranked #1 in their respective weight classes and many others in the top 5. We opened our conference schedule this past Tuesday with a stomping on St. Edwards 72-6 and finished the night beating Wheaton Academy 57-22. Our last home meet will be on January 10th when we face Bishop Mac at 5pm and then finish the night against Woodstock High School. This is a very important dual meet since we do not get the chance to go against Woodstock schools too often. It will be a big night, and I hope you all can make it out to see our program.
Our fencing and boys’ basketball teams are also getting after it this winter. We have hosted a meet already at home for fencing and we will host another one on January 20th and hope you can make it to see our kids in action. Don’t be fooled by our boy’s basketball team being 1-8. We have incredible kids and a new coach this year. We are pushing through some growing pains, but our boys are working hard and putting in the time and effort needed to become great. I’m excited to see the progress we make at the end of the season as we look to win a regional title and push for state.
Lastly the Athletic Department needs your help. We are always look for high quality coaches to be a part of our great programs. If anyone knows someone interested in being a Head boys tennis coach, Head boys Lacrosse coach, or a Head girls Volleyball coach, please reach out to Coach O’Neill as soon as possible.
Thank you and Go Canes!

Exam Prep
First Semester Exams are approaching quickly! On Wednesday, November 29, our wonderful Student Mentors met with their Freshmen and Transfer Mentees and reviewed some great tips on how to not only survive but thrive during this otherwise stressful time for students.
Though the packet linked below was already shared with the Freshmen and other new students to Marian, we also thought it would be useful for all students and parents to peruse. Whether students use some of the tips or all, if this information can be of any help to better preparing our students for the upcoming exams, all the better!
