Pike Central High School
OCTOBER
Message from Principal Gaffney
As we transition into the fall season and close out the first academic quarter of the 2024-2025 school year, both students and faculty are taking a well-deserved break to recharge. However, our community has been deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of one of our own, Brittain Cummins, a 15-year-old sophomore who passed away on October 7, 2024, at his residence.
We ask for your continued prayers, love, and support for Brittainβs family during this incredibly difficult time. As a school community, we will grieve together, understanding that everyone processes loss differently. Please extend grace, compassion, and patience to both students and staff as they navigate through this period of mourning.
Donations to assist the family can be made online through GoFundMe (gofundme.com #suicideawareness) or in person at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg.
If your child, or anyone you know, is experiencing suicidal thoughts, please seek help immediately by calling or texting 988, or by visiting 988lifeline.org.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we stand together during this difficult time.
