CCHS National Honor Society
The Central Crossing High School Chapter of the National Honor Society is an esteemed club that students are inducted into by a Faculty Council based on the 4 pillars: scholarship, leadership, community service, and character. This year’s induction ceremony will be on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 6:30 PM in the CCHS auditorium. We are excited for our new inductees to join!
Scholarship is based on outstanding academic achievement by earning a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.5 or higher by the fall of the student’s junior and/or senior year.
Leadership can be demonstrated formally or informally by being a role model in the classroom, on the field, community, or in other school-related activities.
Community service is any time donated to helping others and giving back to the community.
Character is representing oneself using high standards of trustworthiness, reliability, professionalism, and honesty.
We are an active chapter within the CCHS community and juniors and seniors who meet the scholarship requirement are invited to complete a candidate information packet in the fall for induction consideration. This year an informational meeting will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 during 8th period in the auditorium for those students who have earned an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher and are juniors or seniors. They will receive a pass the morning of the meeting.
Students wanting to become CCHS National Honor Society members should begin volunteering, obtaining leadership experiences, and maintaining high moral standards early in their high school career as underclassmen.
Any questions regarding the CCHS NHS chapter can be directed to the co-advisors: Miss Nicole Crisafulli & Mrs. Heather Fairs

#BePresent this September: Attendance Awareness Month
This September, the South-Western City Schools District (SWCSD) reminds students and families of the importance of #BePresent with Attendance Awareness Month. Attendance Awareness Month is a nationwide recognition of the connection between regular school attendance and academic achievement. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school, and graduate from high school. Missing just two days a month places a student at risk of becoming chronically absent.
This month highlights the importance of mobilizing schools, families and community partners to promote regular attendance by developing tiered strategies and personalized interventions to reduce chronic absence. Every September serves as a reminder for all stakeholders to partner together to identify and remove barriers to daily school attendance so each student can thrive in the classroom.
