UTA Double Reed Day
UTA's Double Reed Day is happening on Saturday, April 5 from 8am-5pm. This event is free to attend and open to oboists and bassoonists of all ages and skill levels! It is a super fun event with guest artists performing in recitals, masterclasses, and elective classes. At the end of the day, everyone learns new ensemble music and plays together as a giant oboe choir and double reed ensemble.
Our featured guest artists this year are oboist Dr. Euridice Alvarez from Baylor University and bassoonist Dr. Darrel Hale from University of North Texas!
There also is an optional solo contest, which costs $7 to enter. There are two divisions: Junior High (5th-8th grade) and High School (9th-12th grade.) It is a great opportunity to prepare for solo contest or State Solo and Ensemble and receive written feedback from a panel of double reed players. Prizes for the winners include free lessons, gift cards to Bocal Majority, and the high school winners get to perform with piano on the final recital. All of the details are on the registration website.
I hope that you will register and join me on April 5! It's going to be a great time!
For more information and to register, visit:
