Wishing Your Family a Wonderful Break
To the DPS 109 community,
Rick Steves, the beloved travel writer recently described as “a legendary PBS superdork,” says there are two kinds of travel: escape travel and reality travel. Unlike Thanksgiving, which centers on food and family, winter break offers many in 109 a chance to travel.
For some families, though, their favorite form of travel during the hectic holidays is no travel at all. Instead of car trips or busy airports, sleep, books, and the cozy comforts of home provide the perfect way for some families to rest and recharge. To each their own, and I hope you get a generous dose of whatever restores you most.
Whether your family this year are escape, reality, or metaphorical travellers, I wish you a restful and restorative break filled with peace, joy, and gratitude as we welcome a new year. For my part, I’m so grateful that you chose District 109 as your home and that we spent 2024 with you as I look forward to all that 2025 will bring.
Sincerely,
Michael V. Simeck
