Message from Dr. Taylor-Cox
I want to recognize and appreciate our amazing staff members who work tirelessly every day to support our students and enrich their learning experiences. Our teachers and staff are the backbone of our school community. They go above and beyond to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for your children. From providing engaging lessons to offering a listening ear, our team is dedicated to helping each student learn and grow.
This week, we celebrate our staff for their hard work and commitment. I encourage you to join me in expressing gratitude for all that they do. A simple note of thanks, a smile, or a kind word can go a long way in making them feel valued and appreciated.
Forest Knolls Parental Input 2024-2025
The Forest Knolls Parental Input form is an opportunity to provide input into your child's class placement for the 2024-2025 school year. This spring, our staff will begin the process of developing classes for next year. This work will continue into the summer. Our goal is to make the best student-teacher match possible and we will use the information in this form to help guide our work. Please complete the form by May 6, 2024.
FKES Career Spirit Week
We're excited to announce our FKES Career Week from May 20th-May 24th, and our Career Day on May 23rd! Students will explore various professions and will also participate in career themed activities throughout the week. In addition, each day features a different theme to continue our learning and celebration of different careers. Thank you for your support in making Career Week memorable for our students. Please see the flyer below for the Career Week themes! If you have any questions please email rachel_j_schechter@mcpsmd.org .
Share Your Input on the Next Superintendent of Schools
The Board of Education is committed to conducting a thorough and transparent superintendent search process that reflects the needs and aspirations of its diverse community. Please take a moment to fill out the online survey. The survey is an opportunity for you to share thoughts, concerns and aspirations for the district's future. Read more.
Attendance Matters: Helping You Get Your Student to School Every Day
MCPS remains committed to working closely with families to support student attendance. During the fourth quarter, MCPS will pilot attendance messages through the Remind app to help families make every effort to send their child(ren) to school every day. A message will be automatically sent when a student is absent for three, five and 10 days during the quarter. The messages are designed to be informative, culturally competent, empathetic and supportive. A student is considered chronically absent if they are absent 10 percent or more of the days they are enrolled. Remember, school staff are always available to help remove any barriers to your children’s attendance.
