Welcome back to the new school year! We hope you had a restful summer and are ready for another exciting year at SouthLake Christian. The first few days have been filled with energy and enthusiasm as students and staff settle into their routines.

Important Reminders

Reminders and important information for parents and students.

• Attendance: Please ensure that your child arrives on time each day. If your child is going to be absent, notify the school office as soon as possible.

• Dress Code: Remind students about the school’s dress code and any updates or changes for the year.

• Lunch Program: Don’t forget to review the lunch menu and pre-order meals if necessary.

• Contact Information: Ensure that your contact information is up-to-date with the school office to receive important updates.

• Upcoming PTF Meeting: September 13 at 8:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary – Join us to discuss upcoming events and ways you can get involved.

• Staff Lunch: The PTF will be providing a welcome back boxed lunch to all staff on August 23rd.

Student Mission Fellowship (SMF) is a student-led organization. SMF serves our school community through various missions including Christmas Mission and Mission Week. We are also privileged to serve our surrounding community through Caterpillar Ministries and local churches. If anyone is interested in joining SMF, our first meeting is Friday, August 24 at 7:15 a.m. before school in the Mezzanine We hope to see you there!

The covenant form is due for all NEW and RETURNING members on Friday, August 30.

Our much-anticipated annual blood drive is scheduled to take place on August 30, from 12 PM to 5 PM, in the Sanctuary/Worship Center. Register Now! Your participation can make a significant difference in saving lives.

Windy Gap is a Young Life camp in the mountains of North Carolina where SouthLake has its junior high and upper school retreat. During our time at Windy Gap, students can unplug and focus on building relationships with their classmates, teachers, and administration. The students participate in worship, chapel services, small groups, games, and competitions. Windy Gap is always favorite and is a great way to start our school year! *Students must arrive at school by 8:15 a.m. Details will be emailed as we get closer to the trip.

• If your student can’t attend the upper school retreat, please email Kristin Ledford at kledford@southlakechristian.org. If your student doesn’t attend the retreat these days will count as absences.
  
• Volunteer: If you are interested in volunteering at Windy Gap, please contact Mallory Clay and Amber Lantz at windygapslca@gmail.com. There are 5 volunteer spots left.

Varsity Football: Huge win for the Eagles on Friday, over Grace Christian (54-13). Congratulations to Jakai T Vinson, Hunter Tedder, Jimmy Lapulosa, and Braden Kendall for being selected the SouthLake Christian players of the game.

Varsity Volleyball: SouthLake Christian Varsity Girls Volleyball had a split start to their season. They defeated Woodlawn High on August 13, but fell to Covenant Day High the next day.

Varsity Soccer: Southlake Christian Falls to Liberty Preparatory Christian in their first game of the season. Congratulations to Britton Utzinger for being named player of the game.

Volunteer: The Eagle Club is looking for volunteers for admissions and concessions at our home athletic events. Members of the Beta Club can obtain service hours by signing up for any of these sporting events. Sign up here!

All visits occur during lunchtime in the mezzanine. Students sign up via Naviance or at the College & Career Counseling Center.
