BROWARD READS FOR THE RECORD
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading event, promoting early literacy and social-emotional development. Over 19 years, more than 28 million people have participated, and millions of high-quality books have been distributed to children through this program.
This year’s book is Piper Chen Sings by Grammy winner and Tony-nominated actress Phillipa Soo, Maris Pasquale Doran, and illustrated by Qin Leng. The story follows a young girl named Piper, who loves to sing but struggles with self-doubt and nervousness when asked to perform a solo. With encouragement from her Nai Nai, Piper learns to embrace her "butterflies" and finds the confidence to shine on stage.
Kindergarten students will participate in an interactive read aloud on Thursday October 24, 2024.
