24 - 25 Parent Newsletter - Issue #29
Dear TVHS Students and Families,
I hope you all had the opportunity to enjoy some sunshine this weekend, especially with more rain in the forecast. As a reminder, during inclement weather, we open the Mini Gym at nutrition break and again at lunch to provide students with a dry and comfortable space.
This past week, we met with the Senior Class to discuss important topics, including ordering caps and gowns, as well as behavior and attendance expectations for the remainder of the year. With just a few months left, it is critical that seniors continue to arrive on time and attend all of their classes. Punctuality is an essential life skill that will benefit them beyond high school. We have a variety of exciting activities planned for our seniors, and we want every student to have the opportunity to participate in them!
Our three Dance Teams were absolutely fabulous last week as they showcased their talent over three nights of performances at TVHS Dance’s production of Dance Evolution: This Is Our Legacy was a huge success! Over the course of 3 nights, over 200 students took the stage (some for the first time ever) to showcase their skills, choreography, and creativity.
One of the highlights of my week was watching our Unified Sports athletes compete at the Track and Field Meet at GOHS. This incredible event brought together our Special Education students and their peers, who served as mentors and coaches, fostering a spirit of inclusion and teamwork. Watching these athletes compete with determination, grit, and pure joy, while their partners supported and encouraged them every step of the way, was truly inspiring. The event was a powerful reminder of the impact of sports in building connections, confidence, and camaraderie among all students.
This week, we begin CAASPP testing, starting with mathematics. Please make sure that your student gets plenty of rest and has a nutritious breakfast. Juniors must have their Chromebooks fully charged and bring their chargers to ensure a smooth testing process. Students will be on a rotating block schedule during testing, so please review the schedule in the counseling section of this newsletter to stay informed.
Additionally, the 9-week progress reporting period ends on March 14th. This is a great time to check Infinite Campus and review your student’s academic progress. Staying informed now will help ensure students finish the semester strong.
We are also incredibly proud to share that our Boys & Girls Wrestling Team will be recognized at the TVUSD Board Meeting for receiving the RCOE Academic Athletic Team Award. Not only did they secure another CIF Championship, but they continue to excel as scholar-athletes—an achievement worth celebrating!
Looking ahead, we invite you to support our VAPA students as they showcase their talents at the Orchestra Concert and Drama Cabaret this week. In addition, several athletic events are taking place, so be sure to come out and cheer on our student-athletes. Lastly, please remember that this Friday is a Modified Day, with school ending at 1:15 PM
Thank you for your ongoing support. Let’s have a great week, Go Bears!
Mrs. Lione
March is Women’s History Month, a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Women’s History Month has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. Women’s History Month is an opportunity to highlight powerful women who fought against injustice and to reflect on the political, cultural, and socioeconomic achievements of women worldwide. Women’s History is American History and should be taught year round. March is another opportunity to highlight Women who have positively influenced and enriched our Nation and society.
In addition, March 13th, 2025 at 6pm the Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) Commission for the City of Temecula (41000 Main Street, Temecula, CA 92590) is celebrating Women's History Month by holding a recognition proclamation for Women Leadership clubs from our high schools.

Women’s History Month Resources:
March is also National Disabilities Awareness Month. In 1987 Ronald Regan officially declared Proclamation 5613 making the month of March National Disabilities Awareness Month. The proclamation called for people to provide understanding, encouragement and opportunities to help persons with disabilities to lead productive and fulfilling lives. March is a time to take extra steps to raise awareness about the rights of the people with disabilities and to celebrate their contributions to our communities and society as a whole! We would also like to acknowledge the endless commitment and dedication of our educators who have committed their careers to serving our differently abled students.
We encourage you to identify materials in your existing core curriculum that can be used to highlight Women’s History and Disabilities Awareness Month. Below are additional resources that you may find helpful in aligning with our existing state standards:

Dance Evolution
Thank You For Three Nights of Amazing Performances
TVHS Dance’s production of Dance Evolution: This Is Our Legacy was a huge success! Over the course of 3 nights, over 200 students took the stage (some for the first time ever) to showcase their skills, choreography, and creativity. For our graduating seniors, the final show was an emotional experience, because even though our dance teams have more performances ahead of them, this was the last time these seniors will take the stage in the Golden Bear Theatre with their teams. Thank you to all the students, staff members, families, and alumni for supporting the event - whether you were actively involved in putting on the show or simply came out to watch - and for making this event one of our favorite TVHS traditions.

Attention Senior Parents!!!
TVHS Caaspp Testing Schedule
Week of March 10th - March 14th
We are in our Spring semester and that means it’s time for state testing. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) system will assess all 11th grade students in English Language Arts, Math and Science. Testing begins for our students MONDAY, March 10th.
In addition to being a measure of the performance of TVHS, the CAASPP:
Measures how well students have mastered the skills and content presented in our classrooms
Gauges students’ college and career readiness
Is an important factor affecting both entrance to universities and placement in courses
May exempt students from taking support level English or math courses at California universities through the EAP (Early Assessment Program) system
Is 1 of 3 criteria to earn Golden Graduate honors at graduation
TVHS will be breaking the testing into three sessions: Math will be given March 10th - 12th, Science April 8th - 10th, and English Language Arts April 14th - 17th. Students will need to bring their charged school issued chromebook and earbuds (if they have them) each day of testing.
Please encourage your student to put forth their best effort and to get solid rest, to eat a good breakfast and to arrive at school on time on test days. We are confident our Golden Bears will be GOLDEN on these exams and continue TVHS’ reputation as an exemplary school!
Thank you for all you do to support our Golden Bears!
Course Selection Time
Dear Parents,
Counselors have begun the course selection process, starting with current 9th grade students, followed by 10th grade, and then 11th grade. Please also keep an eye out for the course selection form, which your student will bring home. A parent signature is required, so be sure to review and sign it. You can Access 25/26 Course Selection Form Here]. Thank you for your support!
Advanced Placement Courses
Golden Bears/Families,
Your student may have received a letter at the end of the semester outlining AP Potential based on their performance on the PSAT that was taken in October. As course selection is approaching, we wanted to provide students an opportunity to hear more about the various Advanced Placement (AP) courses that are available to them to take next year. AP Teachers will be offering information sessions during Advisement over the next few weeks where students will be able to attend to hear more information about specific courses and ask any questions. Please complete the Google form indicating which course sessions students would like to attend so that a 5Star pass can be sent. Students - you MUST check in with your Advisement teacher and show them your pass prior to attending.
