March Monthly Reporting Notes Due
Teachers would like to submit their progress reports before the break, so we can all start the month of April on a positive note. Thank you for submitting your March progress notes as soon as possible. Contact your consulting teacher if you need your form link emailed to you again. Thank you for continuing to work with us to ensure our students succeed.

Pi Day = Par-Tay
Congratulations to the top three middle school students who embraced the challenge of memorizing as many digits of Pi as they could. They won delicious Pi Day treats. Our top winner, Isabella, memorized 100 digits of Pi! Thank you to the teachers and students for bringing in round treats to share. Are you curious about the first 100 digits of Pi?
For those who are curious, the first 100 digits of Pi are: 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993751058209749445923078164 062862089986280348253421170679.
Q3 Workshop Highlights
Students studied forensic science, brain science, folk tale literature with Panamanian Mola art. They played hard together at the HUB for PE and participated in an SVLA favorite: CHESS! The Q3 workshops did not disappoint! So much joy and learning. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and teachers for helping to create memorable experiences for our students.
Fourth Quarter Workshop Registration
SVLA is excited to be offering six workshop dates for our elementary students on Mondays from 11:20am-1:20pm.
Traditional workshops will be held April 15, April 22, April 29, and May 20.
Additionally, two "PE + CHESS" workshops will be held May 6th and May 13th, as recommended by the district testing coordinator, who wants to encourage our test-takers to focus their energy on testing.
Workshop attendance will not require multiple-week commitments except for the Robotics Programming Workshop. Please click on the registration button to fill out one form per student. The deadline for registring for Q4 workshops is Friday, April 5th.
Workshop classes will run based on sufficient enrollment. Please contact Mrs. Ward at pward@cvsd356.org with any questions.
Spring is Here!
Be a TEST PREP Superhero!
This spring our students in grades 3-8 will take the Smarter Balanced math and language arts state tests. Students in grades 5 and 8 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career, what we simply call future ready.
A great tool you can use at home to help your students better prepare for state testing is at the Smarter Balanced testing training site. Visit https://bit.ly/wastatetesting for more information.
For a Smarter Balanced practice test https://bit.ly/sbatraining is a great site to visit. Practice tests boost confidence and help students understand how to better interact with the testing site.
And while this is not a learning tool specific to state testing, parents can create an account for students at the typing.com website. Practicing basic keyboarding skills before testing is great for boosting confidence during testing.
As a reminder, there is no regular Wednesday school for our elementary students on May 8th.
Arrive on time at 8:40am and enter through the office.
Test day pick up times will be different for each test taker
because the pace of every test taker is different!

May 22: "Once Upon a Lily Pad" 9:45AM rehearsal and 6:00PM play performance for K-5 at Ridgeline High School
May 27: No School Memorial Day
May 29: Talent Show, 12:45PM. Auditions info. coming next month.
May 30 Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, 8:45AM
June 3 & 4: Curriculum return--all at-home materials with barcode, not workbooks, are returned
June 5: Last elementary in-person day, 11:00AM PTO fund run, 12:00PM picnic, yearbook signing, and End-of Year Celebration assembly.
June 6: Last middle school in-person day, field day
June 6: K-8 Final home-based Monthly Reporting Notes Due
June 10-13, 17: K-8 Individual WSLP meetings for Fall 2024 enrollment.
