Preparing for Winter
If we need to close our facilities due to inclement weather or an emergency, we will continue to notify you via phone, email, website, text message, and social media. These communications will detail the use of a Lions Virtual Learning Day (LVLD) and the day will not require us to use a make-up day.
If there is a traditional snow day (as Monday and Tuesday were) there will be no synchronous or asynchronous instruction.
If we do have a LVLD, please refer to the graphic below to see what time your student needs to attend a Google Meet, which is how attendance will be taken. If your family experiences issues with Internet connectivity, please reach out to their school counselor.
Important Information
Information Regarding Good Standing Status
Attention Parents, Guardians and Students: We are continuing to monitor data to determine which students are in good standing and those that are not. If a student is not in good standing their privileges to the cafe will be revoked for one week. Grade and attendance reports are generated on Thursday mornings at 9am. Students and guardians will receive notification Thursday afternoon by email to notify them if they able to visit our wonderful cafe. Participation in the end of the marking period reward and other events can be determined by a student's good standing status. Please reach out to your assistant principal if you have any questions or concerns.
Criteria used to determine good standing:
1. Students must maintain passing grades (60% or higher for the marking period grade). Students are allowed to have one course grade lower than 60%.
2. Students must have 9 or fewer unexcused absences in the past two months.
3. Students must adhere to the student code of conduct as explained in the Student Handbook. Repeated or multiple minor infractions or serious violations result in being removed from good standing.
Career Center
The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) program collaborates with business partners to offer free career exploration opportunities for high school students. Here is an overview of the Spring '25 career exploration schedule.
Students should review this information and may begin applying to these programs starting on Monday, January 20th, 2025. Students can apply using the link at the top of the schedule (bit.ly/YCALCEPApp) and should apply as early as possible, applications will be accepted until the programs are filled. Not all students will be accepted as these opportunities are offered to students throughout York County and preference is given to 12th and 11th grade students.
Counseling
FAFSA Completion Night
Wednesday, January 22nd from 5-8pm, we will hold a FAFSA completion night at the Senior High. During this time, you can bring all necessary documents to complete the FAFSA and there will be Financial Aid Counselors from local colleges available to assist you and answer questions as you work through the application.
There are a limited number of spots available for this event, so registration is required. Please call the Red Lion Senior High School Counseling Office at 717-246-1611, ext. 6 to register and reserve a timeslot.
Please note that you must also create an FSA ID (both student and parent/guardian will need one) in order to login to complete your FAFSA. This must be done at least 4 days prior to completing the FAFSA to allow for processing time. More information can be found at studentaid.gov
