HS PACE Classroom News
Throughout the school year, the PACE classroom sold a variety of items to teachers as a part of their business. The 12th grade Media and Journalism class had the opportunity to help them make mug cakes and then returned the next day to interview the students. Mrs. Seiser's Media and Journalism class then worked together to compile the interviews into one article. Please see the attached article to learn more about these students and the wonderful things they have been doing in their class: (Attachment)
Pictured above: A group of high school seniors in the Media and Journalism class went to the PACE classroom within their school to help with a mug cake selling business. They helped to decorate the jars, so the PACE students could deliver the orders.
Pictured below: Northern High School students Liv Anderson and Brayden Decker get to know each other through some interview questions. Brayden proceeded to color a picture for Liv after their interview.

Approximately 60 students recently competed in the second annual Northern Middle School Chess Tournament. At each grade level, students faced off in competitive single-elimination rounds. Eventually, grade-level champions emerged.
Congratulations to 6th grade champion Nathan Small, 7th grade champion Trenton Brubaker, and 8th grade champion Tyler Spahr.
In the end, Trenton Brubaker ultimately prevailed as the 2025 School Champion. As such, Trenton faced Dr. Meakin in a serious chess match last Thursday afternoon in the middle school library. While Dr. Meakin was the victor, the match was a good one.
Kudos to all of the competitors for challenging themselves in this game of skill and strategy!

Elementary School News
Dillsburg Elementary Economics Fair
On May 8th and 9th, 2025, the Dillsburg Elementary third graders held their annual Economics Fair. This event served as the culmination of the students' economics unit in social studies class. All students were assigned the task of becoming entrepreneurs and creating a real product or service to sell to their peers. Businesses included magnets, paper airplanes, homemade candles and soaps, slime, bookmarks, keychains, earrings, bracelets, and many more. This year, the Economics Fair earned $1,348, which is the 2nd biggest total in Econ Fair history. The students chose to donate these earnings to Leg Up Farm and the Dillsburg Public Library.
3rd Grade Spelling Bee at Dillsburg Elementary
The 3rd grade classes at Dillsburg Elementary recently held their annual spelling bee. Over 40 students participated in this competition. The winning student was Lucas Brubaker. Ryleigh Keiter and Nory O'Hara placed second and third, respectively. All three students will receive a medal and certificate at the school's year-end assembly.
Elementary Orchestra Concert
Elementary Orchestra students from all four elementary schools came together on May 29th, 2025, to perform their Spring Concert. This year's performance took an educational approach to teach the audience the basics of string playing by demonstrating many skills that they learned this year. Over twenty Advanced Orchestra students had a moment in the spotlight to play a solo or duet. Congratulations to all of the orchestra members for their dedication, practice, and wonderful performance!
Unified PE at Northern Elementary
Grade 5 students in Miss Carlson's physical education class volunteered during their recess time to help support teaching health and physical education in the Autism Support classroom at Northern Elementary. The program was piloted with 9 student volunteers and Miss Good's class last year. With love and excitement, the program grew to 22 grade 5 volunteers. Next year, the unified program will continue to grow with the addition of peer leaders in Health, Physical Education, Library and Discovery. We are so proud of the leadership these cubs show and the connections all students will take with them moving forward.
Field Day at Northern Elementary
Rain or shine, Northern Elementary School embraced the day and celebrated the end of the school year with a luau themed field day! The students participated in races, water games, a giant beach ball challenge, and more. We are so grateful for the leadership from our parent volunteers and high school volunteers. We would not be able to make the day happen without each of these leaders. NES wishes you all a happy summer!
