Welcome back to another great week at Ruben Hinojosa Elementary!

Our 2nd - 6th grade students presented their GT projects on Saturday, March 2, 2024! Thank you to our parents and teachers for your support and guidance. We invite all of our students families to join us on Thursday, March 7, 2024 for our Open House event. We will have free popcorn (until supplies last), free train rides, moon jumps/obstacle course. All activities are free of charge.

This week, our 2nd - 6th grade bilingual students will take their TELPAS assessment. The calendar below will provide you with dates by grade level. If possible, schedule all medical appointments late in the day or on a different day.

In March, our students will learn about Women's History Month and important women in the U.S. One notable figure they studied is Alyssa Nakken, who made history as the first woman to become a full-time MLB coach for the San Francisco Giants, an MLB baseball team. Additionally, our students enjoyed making and eating our recipe, “Bat and Baseball Snacks.”

En marzo, nuestros estudiantes aprenderán sobre el Mes de la Historia de la Mujer y mujeres importantes en los EE. UU. Una figura notable que estudiaron es Alyssa Nakken, quien hizo historia como la primera mujer en convertirse en entrenadora de tiempo completo de la MLB para los San Francisco Giants, un equipo de béisbol de la MLB. Además, nuestros estudiantes disfrutaron haciendo y comiendo nuestra receta, "Bat and Baseball Snacks".

6th Grade Parents, BL Gray Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and they would like to invite our current sixth grade (our incoming 7th-grade scholars) to the event. See flyer for details.

Our sister school, Jensen Elementary, has challenged us to have our own Great Kindness Challenge. We encourage all staff, students and their families to participate in different kindness activities around their neighborhood and communities. Some examples: picking up litter at their local park, smile at everyone you see today, pick a few toys to donate, write a thank you letter, donate canned goods to local charities, give someone a flower, and many more.

Please take pictures and share them with your child’s teacher so we can share on social media and challenge another Sharyland campus.

Congratulations to all the students who took part in the "Kids n Careers" photo shoot at Ruben Hinojosa Elementary School. It is inspiring to see young minds already exploring their future possibilities and starting their journey towards success. Keep dreaming big and working hard towards your goals!
