Lincoln Bulletin
Lincoln is a buzz of activity and fun, with the excitement of snow finally to play in, students need to remember to bring proper gear. Also, I would like to congratulate our first 3 classrooms that earned 10 PAWS-1/2 day kindergarten-Mrs. Morris's class, First grade-Mrs. Harmon's class, and Third grade- Mr. Miller's class. Congratulations on being respectful, responsible, and safe!
Recess: Indoors or Outdoors??
Please have your child come to school with the appropriate outside gear for outdoor recess every day. The decision to have recess indoors or outdoors is usually decided at 11:30 am each day. Children will go outside each day that the wind chill is above 0 degrees.
Lincoln recess rules for snow:
· Snow boots need to be worn in order to walk in the snow or be in snow-covered areas including playground equipment
· Snow pants and snow boots need to be worn in order to play in the snow.
· All winter items need to be worn that came with your child to the school that day (hats, gloves, scarf, etc.).
Wanted: Incoming Kindergarten Students for 2020-2021!
FROM THE SECRETARY
Wanted: Incoming Kindergarten Students for 2020-2021!
Do you have a child or know someone in your neighborhood with a child who will be 5 years of age ON or BEFORE September 1, 2020? We are already planning for next year's kindergarten.
Kindergarten registration will begin on February 5th. Listed below is a link to D303’s registration page which includes all of the paperwork needed for registration. Feel free to print these forms off ahead of time and bring them in with you when you register your student as it will help your registration process go more smoothly.
https://district.d303.org/registration
PLEASE NOTE: The District has updated many of its forms including a requirement for additional paperwork to document proof of residency. This is noted on the Verification of Residency and Enrollment form which explains what kind of documentation is needed to be brought in for registration. Also be sure to bring an original birth certificate during this process.
Please spread the word to your neighbors and friends...Kindergarten Registration begins on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lincoln main office.
Middle School Transfer Requests
Families who wish to submit Middle School Transfer requests may do so beginning February 3.
The request form will be available on the District 303 website through February 28. Families
must complete a separate form for each student they want transferred. Requests are granted
based on space available so siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be
communicated to families before spring break.
Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303.
Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance are responsible for their own transportation.
Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle
school attended.

Parent University Book Study
District 303 Parent University presents our second annual book study when we read "The Whole Brain Child" by Dr. Dan Siegel.
In this pioneering, practical book, Daniel J. Siegel, neuropsychiatrist and author of the bestselling book Mindsight, and parenting expert Tina Payne Bryson demystify the meltdowns and aggravation, explaining the new science of how a child’s brain is wired and how it matures. The “upstairs brain,” which makes decisions and balances emotions, is under construction until the mid-twenties. Conversations will be based upon the book as well as supplemental workbook activities.
Study sessions will be offered during both morning and evening times at the following locations:
Baker Community Center (101 S. 2nd Street, St. Charles)
Fox Ridge in the LRC (1905 Tyler Road, St. Charles)

5 essentials Survey
Every year, District 303 conducts a satisfaction survey eliciting feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. This year, as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), we will now be participating in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. As a parent or guardian, this survey will provide you with the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness about your child’s school.
Lincoln currently only has a 40% response rate, please take the time to complete this and give us your feedback.
We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your suggestions for improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. To take the parent survey please visit Link http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ and select the appropriate survey.

FROM THE NURSE
The Dentist is Coming to Lincoln!
Great News! Lincoln has partnered with Smile Programs...the mobile dentists, to offer in-school dental care right here at Lincoln during the school day.
Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low-cost self-pay option is available.
Forms were sent home last week. I've got more available in the Lincoln Health Office or sign your child up today at www.MySchoolDentist.com. Permission slips due now.
