High Point Elementary Updates

The PTA would like to create a paper directory to share with families. The directory would include the name of your student(s), address, parent phone number, parent email, and parent name. This could be used to arrange play dates and outside of school functions.

When completing your yearly Infinite Campus update, you were asked if directory information could be shared. If you checked "no", your student's information will not be shared. If you are not sure or you DO NOT want specific information printed, please fill out this form by December 13th. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Beaver.

Coming up after Thanksgiving break we're fundraising with Piada!! Order online at mypiada.com and pick which day works best with your lunch/dinner plans the week of 12/2-12/8 and 20% of your order comes back to High Point. Be sure to use the following code: QKT5RC. We love that you have an entire week to pick which date works best for your take out order.

Prefer to have a family dinner at the restaurant? Stop in Piada in Gahanna on 12/4 and mention the flyer and 20% of your order comes back to our school.

The retention pond at the bottom of the hill by the Kindergarten playground has ice/water in it. Please talk to your student about NOT playing on it before and after school, as it is not safe. We do not want anyone to fall through and get hurt. Thank you!

We try to go outside for recess as much as possible in the winter months. Students will go out if the "feel like" temp is 20 degrees or higher. Please send your student will appropriate warm clothing for recess. (It is helpful if you put your child's name in their coats as many times they show up in the lost and found)

Let’s get earning! We are trying to revive our efforts for this fundraising opportunity for the school. Many may remember collecting the boxtops and sending them into the school; the process has now been digitalized through an app. During the month of November when new users use the Box Tops for Education referral code (X3ER9JC8), the school will get a bonus of $5 upon signing up and scanning your first receipt. Earning is easy with the following steps: Download the app, Create an account (use referral code above), Choose Highpoint Elementary, Purchase qualifying items, Scan receipt within 14 days of purchase, Receive school earnings. This is a simple way to kickstart our participation in this program and support our amazing school!

7 tips to help kids stay positive with math from home:

1. Avoid saying you were bad at math in school. Stay Positive!

2. Talk about math. Ask your child about shapes, halves, patterns, predications, equal groups, etc.

3. Let kids explore ANYTHING about math that interests them, even if they aren’t currently learning about it.

4. Have your child teach you what they are learning.

5. Try the “new” math, even if it is different from what you learned in school.

6. Do away with math drills at home and incorporate more game based learning or puzzles.

7. Take it slow. Allow your child to take breaks and remember that all kids learn at a different pace!

Do you know a staff member who you feel makes a profound impact on students and Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools? If so, nominate them for the GJPS Heart and Pride award. This award is open to any staff member. regardless of position. Each month, the district will take the nominations to the Heart and Pride Committee, which is composed of community members and former staff members. The committee will select two winners a month that will be recognized by our Board of Education at the monthly meeting. If you have a staff member in mind, please complete THIS GOOGLE FORM.
