First Grade Morning Message
Reading
Description of Work:
I can become the character.
Watch Mr. Putter and Tabby again. After you listen, act out the character in the book. Remember to change your voice to show feeling. When finished, act out the character in your own book.
Read for 20 minutes on RAZ-Kids.
Word Work
For Word Work, watch the "AY" video. Read the Little Blue Jay passage and discuss the questions with your family.
For spelling, write a question and a telling sentence using as many of your spelling words as you can.

Writing
Description of Work:
I can use a checklist to make goals for my writing.
Use this checklist make a goal for your writing. Use your characters that you created Monday and Tuesday to begin writing your story. Make sure to get your reader's attention at the beginning of your story. Work on including your problem in the middle of your story. Make sure to include details.
Be sure to use capitals, finger spaces and punctuation.
Math
Description of Work:
I can use tools to measure.
Watch Mrs. Burkett teach a mini-lesson on measurement. Then watch the Inch by Inch video.
Draw a caterpillar outside with sidewalk chalk. Measure the caterpillar using a non-standards unit of your choice. Measure with another non-standards unit. (Example - pennies and beans). Compare the two units of measurement.
IT'S READ ALOUD TIME
Today you will listen to the Earth.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
I can observe the parts of a plant, and how they grow.
Watch Peep Plants a Seed. After eating a fruit or vegetable, go outside and plant the seed or you can plant a bean or seed of your choice. Be sure to give the plant what it needs to grow (water, air, soil, sun).
