Business Studies
On the 28th of February the Year 12 and 13 Young Enterprise Business classes had the opportunity to go to the Spark Tank event at the Toi Toi Theatre in Hastings. This was an enlightening experience for all of us, we were able to be coached for free by all of these experienced people. Personally I found this to be very beneficial and so did the group I was in. We were able to make large improvements on our business idea and future developments that we may make. We found that the business coaches were very supportive and patient with us but they were also very passionate about our businesses and getting them up and going. Everyone in my class and I assume in the Y13 class as well are very thankful for all the support that we have received and gained from YES. We are all very fortunate to have this experience.

Gateway Programme - Can your business help?
We are looking for workplaces willing to take on some of our students!
What is Gateway?
Gateway funding enables secondary schools to give senior learners access to structured workplace learning integrated with school-based learning, which may align to one or more of the six Vocational Pathways.
Hastings Boys' High School offers a successful Gateway programme, providing students with hands-on experience in their chosen career paths.
The programme strength lies in its ability to provide real-world exposure, and to further enhance its impact, we are actively seeking to expand our network of workplace opportunities. More workplace posibilities will translate to greater student engagement and a richer, more meaningful learning experience.
This is where we need your help!
If you know of any businesses that would be willing share their workplace experience with a student for a day a week, (for terms 2 & 3) to show them skills and opportunities to learn a trade, please contact- careers@hastingsboys.school.nz or claret@hastingsboys.school.nz
