Principals' Greeting
Dear Hiteon Families,
It has been a wonderful beginning to the 2022 - 2023 school year! Thank you all for attending yesterday's Curriculum Night. The evening was full of positive energy and all the “possibilities” of a new school year. We hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s new teacher and learning about their classes.
This school year, we are focusing on the whole child and remembering what it means to be balanced. Academics are the cornerstone of Hiteon. Our mission is to provide an educational experience where everyone can meet their full potential and make positive societal contributions. We also will continue to target and teach social and emotional learning. At Hiteon, we understand that “kids don't care what we know until they know that we care” (John C. Maxwell).
Public Safety and Risk Management came and observed our arrival time this week. They recommend no longer having a fourth and fifth-grade entrance (green door). We utilized the separate entrances last year due to covid guidelines. All fourth and fifth graders will enter the building at the main entrance (yellow entrance) at arrival starting Monday, September 19.
Other findings from the safety observation will be sent to the city to help Hiteon create the safest arrival and dismissal process possible. We appreciate your support as we make these changes.
We look forward to a bright new year, “Soaring Together,” to great heights!
Best Regards,
Janet Maza, Principal
Jenny Read-Emslie - Assistant Principal

2022 - 2023 BSD Meal Program
This year, the Beaverton School District is sending mail notifications to families who qualify for free or reduced-cost meals, either through Federal Income Guidelines or the new Oregon Expanded Income Guidelines (EIG).
We want to clarify that students who qualify for free or reduced-cost meals under the Federal Income Guidelines may receive additional benefits. Those benefits include:
Waived or reduced athletic fees
Waived or reduced school event fees
Medical, dental and vision benefits
Low-cost internet service through Comcast Internet Essentials
Waived or reduced THPRD fees
However, students who qualify for free meals under EIG are not eligible for additional benefits. Oregon EIG approval is for free school meals only.
Please refer to the Nutrition Services Meal Benefits page to view the income guidelines and other information.

HITEON PTC CORNER
Upcoming Trunk or Treat hosted by PTC
Donate
We need lots of candy! Bring bags of candy to the school front office and "feed" it to our candy monster.
Decorate
We need families to decorate trunks! Fill out the form on the back or contact Kristin Glover.
Coordinate
Join our planning Committee! Contact Kristin Glover at gloverkristin@yahoo.com for more information.
Participate
Come dressed in your costumed best! Please keep all costumes elementary age appropriate.
All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Host a Trunk!
Have fun designing and decorating your trunk! Unique, fun, and family-oriented designs are encouraged. There are lots of ideas on Pinterest. Sorry, but gore, propaganda and offensive materials may not be used. There will be no fee to host a trunk at the event; PTC will be collecting candy donations and each trunk will receive candy when they check in on the night of the event. You are welcome to bring additional candy for your trunk.
Set up begins at 4:00-5:00PM on Friday, October 21. Please plan to arrive by 4:30 so that we can have all the cars in place before the kids arrive. The event will run from 5:00-6:30PM. For the safety of our Hiteon families, you must remain parked until the event has ended.
Spaces are limited so please let us know that you would like to host no later than Monday, October 10. Email Kristin Glover at gloverkristin@yahoo.com with your name, student name, phone number and trunk theme.
