No Pre Kindergarten Class 11/25/24 & 11/26/24 & school closes for all other students at 1:20 p.m.
Ms. Lewis' and Ms. Pavan's students will not have school Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. School will resume for prekindergarten students on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Schools and Offices Closed for Thanksgiving
School will close for students for the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday, at 1:20 p.m. The main office will close at 2:15 p.m. Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the Thanksgiving week.
700 Series Chromebooks being Retired
The Acer Chromebook 700 series is being collected. If your child has a chromebook of this series that was borrowed from the school district, that chromebook will need to be returned to TPES. If you still want a chromebook for home use, you will need to complete a new request form. Please contact your child's teacher for help with returning a chromebook or getting a new chromebook. All 700 series chromebooks will stop working on December 4, 2024.
In Recent News...
Children with autism have wandered away from home, parents/guardians and school. This also happened last week at TPES. Even with close supervision, some children are able to slip away from caregivers quickly. If a child with autism wanders away from you or your family and you can't find them, please call 911 immediately. Children with autism are often drawn to bodies of water which can be very dangerous. Please see the attached flyer for more information from the Maryland Autism Coalition.

Parent Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on November 25, 2024 and will be virtual unless an in person conference is requested. Each family will be offered one conference for each child attending Takoma Park Elementary School. Unfortunately, we cannot offer more than one conference per child due to time constraints. Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and Educational Management Team (EMT) meetings will replace the conference if it is held between November 4-26th. You will be contacted by either your child's homeroom teacher or reading teacher to schedule the conference. During the conference, the reading and math data from the district-wide assessments will be shared as well as other information about each child. First and Second grade students will have conferences with their reading teacher, who will share information on the other aspects of the student's day. If you are unsure of when your child's conference is, please contact your child's reading teacher. Please use the links below to prepare for the Parent Teacher Conference.
