Important Lewiston-Porter CSD Updates and Events
Dear Lewiston-Porter Families,
This is a reminder of several important updates and events happening across the district:
Superintendent’s Conference Day/Data Day, Friday, December 6th
On Friday, December 6th, there will be no student attendance (K-12). Teachers will use this day to:
Review achievement data: Analyzing student performance data to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Adjust Curriculum: Refining lessons and instructional strategies to better meet the needs of all learners.
Develop Report Cards: Preparing progress reports to provide families with comprehensive updates on student achievement.
Prepare for Parent-Teacher Conferences: Finalizing materials and plans for engaging with families.
This day is critical for ensuring that our instructional programs remain responsive to the needs of our students.
Active Shooter Training, Friday, December 6th
As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, the district will conduct a coordinated Active Shooter Drill on December 6th at the High School and Middle School. This is the first full-scale drill since the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects technology, protocols, and staff training updates. The schedule for the drills is as follows:
High School: 9:00 – 10:30 AM
Middle School: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
The drill will involve school staff role-playing during the event. It will also involve collaboration with law enforcement and emergency medical services, including the Lewiston Police Department, school resource officers, New York State Police, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Border Patrol. EMS will coordinate to practice incident response and management.
Important Notes: Students will not be in attendance, as this is a Superintendent’s Conference Day. The drill is limited to adult participants. These exercises are essential to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our schools and reflect the challenges schools face nationwide.
Niagara PAL Santa Dash 5K – Saturday, December 7th
I would like to invite all community members to join us for the Niagara Police Athletic League Santa Dash 5K on Saturday, December 7th, at 9 am at the Sheraton in downtown Niagara Falls.
The race supports student scholarships and youth programming across Niagara County. As Superintendent and a Niagara PAL Board member, I’m proud to see Lewiston-Porter partnering with PAL to create meaningful opportunities for students in our region. It's a great course and a great race, leading runners along the beautiful falls and cataracts. For more details and online registration, visit buffalorunners.com. Race day registration opens at 7 am at the Sheraton.
Parent-Teacher Conferences, Friday, December 13th
Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on Friday, December 13th, a non-attendance day for students (K-12). This is an opportunity for families to meet with teachers, discuss their child’s progress, and plan collaboratively to support success.
Scheduling: Individual buildings have distributed conference schedules and sign-up protocols.
Questions: If you have not received scheduling information or need further assistance, please contact your child’s teacher or building principal.
Thank you for your continued support of these important days and activities. If you have any questions or need further details, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school or the district office.
Sincerely,
Paul Casseri
