HLA Insider
January 2025
Mrs. B's Buzz
Dear HLA Families,
Happy New Year! I hope each of you had a rejuvenating and joyful winter break! As we bid farewell to 2024, we welcome the new possibilities that 2025 may bring our way! Returning to the structure and routine of school after any break can be a bit challenging for many of us! I encourage our students to embrace this opportunity as a fresh start! Reconnecting with friends, welcoming new friends to HLA, engaging in classroom discussions and diving into our curriculum with renewed enthusiasm! We are close to our "halfway point" in the year which means the next few months are some of the most important for our students. This tends to be the time when we see exponential growth in all content areas. Thank you to all of our parents in advance for helping us keep the kids motivated, engaged and focused on their learning.
As we work our way into 2025, THANK YOU for giving us your kids each day! I am looking forward to a productive and successful second half of the school year. As always, I welcome you to email or call me anytime that you have questions, comments or concerns.
All the best,
Mrs. Borganelli

Counselor Corner - January 2025
Happy New Year and welcome back! It has been nice to get so many smiles and hugs from students this week! Please be on the lookout for information about the social emotional health screeners that I will complete with all grades in the coming weeks.
The SEL trait for January is perseverance(how fitting for this time of year!). Our definition of perseverance is “pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles”.
Some reflection questions I encourage you to share with your child include:
-Can you think of the last time you showed Perseverance?
-How can we practice Perseverance more meaningfully?
-Why is it important for us to practice Perseverance?
We are excited to continue fostering a kind and inclusive environment at school in 2025. As part of our ongoing efforts to build a supportive community, we will be introducing activities that promote kindness, empathy, and respect for one another. Our goal is to ensure every student feels valued, understood, and encouraged to do their best.
With that in mind, we will be celebrating Kindness Week again this year from February 10th - 14th! Please join us for a “Kindness Celebration” during morning meeting on Valen-KIND-s day, February 14th at 7:45am.
Let’s make this a year of growth, kindness, and positive changes as we work together to create an environment where every child can thrive!
As always, I am here for your family and your students! Please reach out to me at any time!
Warmly,
Ms. Bowser
