MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Greetings MVCSD Community,
The Career and Technical Education Department hosted CTE Week this week to showcase all the success of its programs and provide our students with even more learning experiences centered on the trades. A variety of workshops and demonstrations were offered for students to explore various careers.
In recognition of CTE Week, I spoke with Director of CTE Brian Simmons on Conversations with Dr. Kim. View our discussion below! We talked about the different opportunities the program provides, goals for the future, and how CTE prepares students for success in their education and careers.
On Wednesday, we held a career fair, open to students and the community. We have several job opportunities across the District, and we are looking for talented individuals excited about the opportunity to work with children to fill those roles. You can find more information about job openings in the District on our website.
Please buy tickets to An Afternoon with Sheila Johnson fundraiser for an inspiring discussion and a copy of her book chronicling her life story and the adversity she has overcome on her path to becoming a billionaire! All proceeds will support our scholars and be used for extracurricular programs throughout the District.
Next Tuesday, the budget vote will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The budget, which requires no increase to the tax levy for the eighth time in 10 years, increases student spending and maintains all academic and afterschool programs. You can find more information about the budget in our budget newsletter and on our budget page online.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. K. Veronica Smith
Acting Superintendent of Schools
