The January 25th special board meeting was held both on site at the District Office and remotely via Zoom. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, only 10 people were permitted inside the boardroom at any given time, observing proper physical distancing and wearing face coverings. Members of the public could listen/observe the meeting by logging in to a designated Zoom webinar. For open/community participation, a laptop was set up in the District Office to accommodate live public comment. The district also created a dedicated voicemail line for public comment.

Dr. Ron Watkins & Ms. Beth Heller from the University of Illinois joined the meeting to discuss the SHIELD Illinois testing program.

Mr. Watkins gave a brief overview of what the SHIELD Illinois test entails and answered board members' questions.

Dr. Westerhold gave a detailed timeline on what the administration has done to research and evaluate testing options since July of 2020.

Dr. Filippi discussed the preliminary logistical plans for using SHIELD Illinois in District 109. Right now, the district is looking at formulating an east side & west side testing team. Vials will be distributed in classrooms, but actual sample collections would take place in each school's gym.

More formal logistical plans will be presented at the February 8th regular board meeting.

The support agreement was approved.

Several board members thanked the administration for their work on the testing.
