Leadership Worthington
Last week Worthington Schools was fortunate to host the 24-25 Leadership Worthington class for a day.
Leadership Worthington, a program of the Worthington Area Chamber, is a 7-month leadership development program for individuals who live or work within the Worthington City School District, or are active members of the Worthington Area Chamber, and are inspired to contribute to the well-being of their local community through active involvement in government, nonprofit and/or corporate affairs. Leadership Worthington graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to work collaboratively and successfully in achieving meaningful outcomes impacting others.
Their Mission: To develop, inspire, and connect leaders to drive positive change in the Worthington community.
What They Do: We develop civic-minded leaders, inspire leaders to engage in community initiatives, and connect leaders to strengthen their relationships within the community.
For the schools our Director of Secondary Education, Emilie Greenwald is a member of the Leadership Worthington board and provides guidance on community programming.
When we met with this engaged group of community leaders we felt like it was important for them to really understand our school district. Things like:
- Worthington Schools is 20 square miles
- Worthington Schools serves multiple municipalities (Columbus, Worthington, Perry Township, Sharon Township, Village of Riverlea)
- Our students have different mailing addresses but all make up Worthington Schools (Columbus, Dublin, Powell, Worthington and Westerville)
- We have 21 schools and serve 10,700 students (1 preschool, 11 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 2 high schools and 3 schools of choice.)
- 7,220 of our students live in the City of Columbus, 2,462 live in the City of Worthington
- Our school buses drive over 1 million miles a year!
- Our food service team will serve over 1 million meals this school year!
- Our Capital assets are insured for $480 million!
- We operate 388 acres of land for school and community use!
Finally, and best of all, the class took a field trip to see Worthington Park Elementary School in action. When you walk into one of our schools it is impossible not to be immediately captivated by the good work going on in teaching and learning.
We appreciate the partnership with the Worthington Chamber on Leadership Worthington. It’s fun to see the next generation of leaders in Worthington begin to emerge.

Building a Solid Foundation in Mathematics
Mathematics is essential for Worthington students as they prepare for an ever-evolving future. Beyond equations and formulas, math builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills—foundations for success in any career. Mathematical literacy empowers students to navigate complex challenges in engineering, healthcare, business, and everyday life in a world driven by technology, data, and innovation.
Strong math skills foster confidence and adaptability, equipping students to make informed decisions and approach problems with logic and creativity. As Worthington Schools prepares students for college, careers, and citizenship, we prioritize math education to ensure they are ready to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. A solid math foundation today shapes the problem-solvers and leaders of tomorrow.
Recently, The 74, a nonprofit news organization covering America’s education system from early childhood through college and career, investigated school district math data.
