Ripon Cathedral School Update

This week we have been thinking about the British Value, Democracy. The children have also seen democracy in action through our Ambassador Elections. Ten Year 6 pupils put themselves forward as candidates; they shared their very impressive speeches to persuade the children that they should vote for them in our Wednesday worship. The children from each class then visited our polling station to complete their ballot papers and after they were counted, Emery and Aggie were elected as our new Ambassadors. We were incredibly impressed by all the candidates who really thought carefully about the contribution that they could make to the school. Well done Year 6.

In Year 1 we have been discussing the question, Where do we live? We have been thinking about the town, city or village that our homes are in. We have discussed how all our homes are different, some of us live in terraced houses, others in detached houses, cottages or flats. We have assembled models of our own homes by using a variety of tools and techniques to join materials together. We have been thinking about how close our homes are to school and have discussed the mode of transport and duration of our journeys.

At our celebration worship we announced our Stars of the Week. Well done to all the recipients.

Seb for settling into his new routines and working hard to make new friends.

Jonah for showing a great attitude to his learning and challenging himself within our provision.

Year 2

Levi for doing an amazing job everyday, trying your best and showing determination.

Betsy for trying her very best in Maths and English this week.

Year 3

Rosie for her positivity and 'can do' attitude. She has a mature and responsible attitude to her learning.

Year 4

Scarlett for her super effort with her writing, creating some lovely ideas.

Year 5

Danny for his excellent attitude to his learning. He responds well to feedback and always contributes to class discussions.

Year 6

Ava for extending her answers in Science by showing evidence to back up her ideas and for her fantastic contributions in English.

Year 1: 'To be independent.' 'Try your best as if you don't you won't get good at anything.'

Year 2: 'Try to be better.' 'People might not want to be your friend if you don't try.'

Year 3: 'If you're the best at everything, life would be boring.'

Year 4: 'Trying the best will make you the best you can be.'

Year 5: 'Try your best so you can learn from your mistakes so you become your best.' 'Always setting goals so you make yourself better.'

Year 6: 'Never compare yourselves to others.'
