Frog Pond Elementary
Volume 5 24 -25
Hello Frog Pond Family!
Itβs hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the school year! I am pleased to say that the students have been amazing! Getting to see first hand the collaboration of staff and the teamwork of our students has been a pleasure!
There are some exciting things happening at Frog Pond and more to come. To start the month of February, our 6th Graders have the opportunity for several days in the star lab during their Science classes.
February 18th we will be celebrating the 100th day of school, and we look forward to seeing everyone dressed like they are 100 years old! Our PTO will hold itβs very popular Candy Bar Bingo on Friday, February 28th. Take a look at our flyer for our upcoming spirit days.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Thomas P. Denning

Sharing Mystery Stories
The students in 6A and 6M wrote mystery stories which we shared around a campfire and then enjoyed some marshmallows.
Creating Dodecahedrons
Mrs. Pritsch's Math classes created dodecahedrons to learn all about decimal place value. A dodecahedron is a solid figure that has 12 faces. Each face modeled different concepts relating to decimals such as, comparing decimals, rounding decimals, writing decimals in different forms, and finding the values of decimals. They had a great time making them!
Learning about Anne Frank and the Holocaust
STEP students learned about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. January 27th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. On that day, 80 years ago, Auschwitz was liberated. We made a collaborative piece that has our school colors and the word HOPE written in paper clips. Paper clips were a symbol of the resistance in Norwegian countries during WWII. We must remember the mistakes of the past so we do not repeat themβ¦
STEAM
In STEAM, we have been using code to make our Dash robots go! We did centers and launched ping pong balls into cup towers, played the xylophone, and moved βsnowβ into a snow removal place!
Students Work on a Service Project
On Friday, January 17th, Ms. Gunn's and Mrs. Kawka's classes worked on a wonderful service project together. They made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for veterans of Veterans Haven as well as Silent Support Honoring John G. Jones for the homeless in Atlantic City. The students learned a lot about helping others in need, not taking things they have for granted, and worked so well together. In addition to making 216 sandwiches, they also made and decorated over 100 cards to accompany the sandwiches! Thank you to Mrs. Saponara for providing all of the materials and also Mrs. Nagy for a ton of help. We are so proud of all of our students for taking part in this activity to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
π¬Science is Fun π¬
Students in Mr. Schmidt and Mrs. Klements class used the process of chromatography to investigate a test mixture to determine if there was red dye in it. Their goal is to be able to explain how this process works at the nanoscale with molecules.

Game Day Fun!
For Game Day, students had a blast playing "Name That Student!" In this game, Mrs. Kawka had to guess her students' names based solely on their voices. It was a great way to celebrate the unique personalities in the class and add a little extra fun to Game Day.
