Dear Bremerton School District Families:
We are reaching out to provide an update on the unfortunate incident that occurred during our recent football game against Bainbridge High School.
- Investigation status: Our internal fact-finding investigation into the matter with Bremerton athletes and coaches has been completed. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure that every aspect of the incident was reviewed in detail, allowing us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the events that transpired.
- Engagement with WIAA: In our pursuit of transparency and due diligence, we have contacted the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). They have been apprised of the situation.
- Support for affected students: We cannot emphasize enough our deep concern for the well-being of our students and families impacted by this incident. With that in mind, we have put in place support measures, including counseling services and open forums, at Bremerton High School. Please contact Mr. Nickels for additional information.
We are jointly reviewing the incident with Bainbridge High School administration and determining the best path forward. We are committed to ensuring that both our communities move forward with mutual respect and understanding.
This incident serves as a reminder of our values we must uphold in our community. While we navigate the incident, we ask for your patience and understanding. Our utmost priority remains the safety, well-being, and dignity of our students and broader community.
