Slaybaugh School Complex
Week of December 6, 2020
Principal's Message
Dear Slaybaugh Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already in the last month of 2020. I am sure we can all agree that no one will be sorry to see 2020 end. I hope that 2021 will be a much better year for everyone and my hope is that we can have our children return to school as one unit in the near future.
Just a reminder that Report Cards were completed and will be available for you to view in the PARENT PORTAL beginning Friday, December 11th. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher, Miss Simone (Guidance Counselor), Mrs. Casumpang (Assistant Principal) or myself.
On a happy note, I am proud and pleased to announce that Slaybaugh’s 2021-22 Teacher of the Year is Ms. Marielle Webster. Ms. Webster is a 1st Grade Teacher who works collaboratively with her team and all supporting teachers to meet the needs of all of her students. She understands the importance of a complete education for her students and she accepts the responsibility with enthusiasm.
Our Educational Services Professional of the Year is Mrs. Elizabeth Derbyshire. Mrs. Derbyshire is our school nurse in the Primary building. She cares for our students and staff with kindness and respect. She has a big heart and goes above and beyond her job description to make sure that her students feel safe, cared for and loved.
I know this has been an extremely stressful and challenging calendar year. Many of us have lost friends or relatives during this pandemic, we have seen our “normal” lives turned upside down, but we continue to persevere. Hopefully, there is a light at the end of the tunnel as we progress through this unusual holiday season.
Continue to enjoy this beautiful season and the joy that this time of year brings.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli

Third Graders Learn About Hanukkah
A student in Mrs. Efstatos' class shared stories all about the Hanukkah holiday and her own family celebrations and traditions. This was an exciting way to continue their learning about "Cultures, Customs, and Holiday Traditions."

Slaybaugh's Giving Tree
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this year's Giving Tree!!! It's truly heartwarming to know that even in a pandemic our Slaybaugh family is so generous, thoughtful, and kind. As a school we've helped multiple families have a little extra holiday cheer this season.
