The School Year Continues....
Greetings Hesse Families,
What a week we had at Hesse! Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and understanding while we shifted to an early dismissal on Thursday. We are thankful that we were spared the worst of the storm. GMAS testing has concluded for this year aside from any students who were unable to attend on testing days. Thank you to everyone who showed their support and appreciation to our staff during teacher appreciation week! We love our Hesse families!
Please make note of the following for the week of May 13th:
This week begins our year end celebrations! Please be sure to reach out to your classroom teacher for information regarding classroom celebrations and field days.
Monday, May 13th, our 3rd grade students will hold their Economics Day.
Tuesday, we have re-scheduled the PTA Spring Fling (now called PTA Fun Day). As of right now, it appears it will be a rainy day. If we must cancel this event, an alternate activity will be held.
ESOL will also be holding a multi-cultural event on Tuesday during the PTA Fun Day. An alternate plan will be communicated if the PTA Fun Day is canceled.
Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM, we will host our annual Athletic Banquet in the cafeteria.
Thursday we will hold the 5th Grade Bridging Ceremony as well as the Kindergarten Ceremony. More information will be sent out to those grade levels this week.
Friday morning, we will honor our 8th grade students at their Bridging Ceremony. Again, more information will be coming out this week.
Friday is also a Hesse Spirit Day. Students may wear any Hesse shirt with uniform bottoms.

Hesse K8 Uniforms
With the understanding that student behavior is influenced by the way students are dressed and that no student should dress in a manner that is disruptive or has an adverse effect on school activities, the following mandatory uniform standards have been developed. Students are expected to dress in the school uniform during the school day, on field trips, and during school-related activities. Hesse K-8 uniform colors are as follows: hunter green or white uniform shirts; khaki or navy uniform bottoms. Please refer to the SCCPSS Code of Conduct for full details regarding uniform guidelines/expectations.
If student arrives at school out of uniform, it will be documented and student will have the option to:
Change clothes into a supplied uniform and remain at school, or
Call home for a change of clothing, which must delivered to the front office by 9:00 a.m.
At this time, students are not allowed to wear a hooded sweatshirt "hoodie". They will be asked to take it off in the building.
Students with repetitive uniform violations will be subject to disciplinary action. Please see below regarding documentation used for dress code violations:

Bus Rider Update:
The Transportation Department has completed distribution of barcoded student cards for initiation of the Synovia/Here Comes The Bus Student Pass Program. Barcoded cards were generated for bus riders attending elementary and K-8 schools. Students attending middle and high schools will use their school issued ID card for the Synovia/Here Comes The Bus HCTB Student Pass Program. Bus riders in all grade levels may use a smartphone with the Here Comes The Bus app as an additional option for the student pass.
Each SCCPSS bus is equipped with a tablet to validate students when loading and unloading. Parents are also able to monitor their child’s scans using the HCTB parent app. For parents already utilizing the HCTB app to monitor the bus, student scans will automatically populate in the app.
Parents utilizing the HCTB app, may be submitted requests for assistance via the app.
