Principal's Note
Dear Families,
Carver Elementary has felt so full of life and energy the past few weeks with many of our students returning to in-person learning. It feels more like a “normal” school day. The cold weather spell we had seems to be letting up. Students are able to wait outside before and after school and go out for recess again!
I want to take this opportunity to share some information that may be helpful as we continue to welcome students back to school. One of the questions we have received is what students will do if they are required to temporarily switch to distance learning due to COVID. If that should happen, your student’s teacher will reach out to make a plan for the time the student will be out. It may be that we temporarily add your student to a distance learning teacher, or your student’s regular classroom teacher may send assignments via Seesaw to your student and check on school work. If an in-person student is absent other than COVID, you would work out missing assignments with your student's teacher.
Finally, conferences are coming up soon. You should have received a link to sign up for a conference time, which will be held over Zoom again like in the fall. You will have the opportunity to connect with your student(s) classroom teacher and specialist teachers at these conferences. See the sign-up link below. Please connect with us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Gena Abrahamson, Principal

Student drop off will be supervised in the east lot from 9:20-9:30.
Do not drop off students until there is an adult outside supervising.

Recess
Students will go outside for recess after lunch.
Each class has a designated time and area for recess and each class will enjoy recess away from other classes. We cannot mix students between classes at this time.
Students may take mask breaks for outdoor recess.
Students go out for recess every day unless the temperature is below zero degrees, the windchill is below -10 degrees, and/or it is raining.
Students should be dressed in appropriate warm clothing for recess, including boots, snow pants, coats, hats, and gloves/mittens.
What do I need to bring back to school when I come back to in-person learning:
Computer charged each day with the charging cord
Math workbook
Social Studies workbook (only some grade levels received this)
Mask
Winter gear- we will be going outside for recess and waiting outside before and after school
Distance Learning Students - What to expect
- SeeSaw - Beginning on Monday, January 25th (K-2) and Monday, February 8th (3-5) your homeroom class will be updated. If your student has a teacher change, you will notice the change at this time.
Specialists for Distance Learning
We will be on a 9 day rotation. Students will have music, STEM, or physical education for 9 days and then will rotate.
Students need to complete specialist work in the 9 day rotation to keep pace with their in-person learners. Getting in the routine of completing one lesson each day is ideal.
Specialists will not hold Wednesday live zoom sessions at this time.
In-person learners will follow the 9 day rotation with their grade level class.
