Assessment Corner with Dr. Montgomery
Hello DPSCD Virtual School Families!
This is Dr. Montgomery, your Assistant Principal, and I just want to remind you about our upcoming fall assessments! Make sure you mark your calendars with the following dates:
Below, I have included the logistics for next week’s assessments:
- Entrance and Exit: Students will enter and exit through Door 6, where door monitors will greet students.
- Sign-in Process: Students will sign in using the QR code and then be escorted to their assessment room.
- Electronic Devices: All electronic devices will be collected, placed in an envelope with the student’s first and last name, and stored securely in a bin.
- Breakfast: Breakfast will be served in the testing room, followed by the digital readiness practice review on the Blue Book app, which will begin promptly after breakfast.
- Technology Support: Should a student experience technical difficulties that the proctor cannot resolve, please escort the student to the technology captain. The media center technology captain will be Mr. Bliss, and the 2nd-floor help center will be led by Mr. Thai, stationed in the teacher area.
- Lunch: Lunch will be provided after testing. No students should be unescorted while on the premises for safety reasons, this includes lavatory breaks. One of the proctors should escort student as needed.
- As students complete assessments they are to remain in the classroom and wait quietly until all students are done.
- Proctor Teacher Lunch: Lunch for proctoring teachers will be from 12:20 to 1:20 pm. If any student is not picked up between 12:00-12:15 pm, they should be escorted to the main office before you proceed to take your lunch.
- Afternoon Classes: Regular classes will resume for 7th and 8th periods after testing, so students who tested should attend those sessions as usual.
Assessment Tips:
- Get plenty of rest the night before to stay sharp and focused.
- Eat a healthy breakfast to fuel your brain for the day.
- Set up a quiet space for virtual assessments with minimal distractions.
- Practice deep breathing if you feel nervous—take your time!
- Bring required materials for in-person PSAT (laptop, charging cord, headphones).
- Ask questions if anything is unclear before the test day. Your teachers are here to help!
Remember, i-Ready, district benchmarks, and End-of-Course exams are all virtual, but PSAT assessments will be in-person. Be prepared, stay confident, and let's make this a successful start to the school year! As always, I am here for you, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any support or have any questions. We’re all in this together
You've got this, Virtual School family! 😊
