HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK!
A few extra highlights this week to showcase our many end-of-year events and activities!
ENGINEERING DESIGN PROJECT
Jaylyn Le, a student in Mr. Welch's Introduction to Engineering Design course, one of the foundation courses in Pre-Engineering, created this trammel toy using AutoDesk Fusion computer-aided design (CAD) software. From there she used a 3D printer, a laser cutter, and hand tools to construct this working prototype. Awesome job, Jaylyn!
LIVE ON AIR: PRINCIPAL GIACOBOZZI
Recently Principal Giacobozzi joined Mr. Riley’s studio TV Production class on an episode of “What’s up Watertown”, which is will be airing this month on Watertown Cable Access TV! It is also available here.
CAREER PRESENTATION
Our very own Mr. Carmine Frongillo spoke with the Intro to Radio and Studio TV Broadcast classes last week. Mr. Frongillo had a successful career in sports reporting and our students were able to learn about the career and his path to get there!
HONORS SPANISH IV TRIP
Sra. Berardinelli's Spanish IV honors class visited Kitchen Orinoco on May 29th to experience the gastronomy of Venezuela. Many were introduced to arepas, yuca frita con mojo, pepitos and empanadas. Marta and her staff were kind and served our students speaking to them using the Spanish language. Everything was "olé" from start to finish!
TOPPING OFF CEREMONY
Our team working on our new 50 Columbia Street building are working hard and tirelessly for us each and every day. Last Thursday was our Topping Off Ceremony where community members were offered a chance to sign the "final beam" of the building. Thank you to everyone who joined us and everyone who is working on our project!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!
The last day of the 2023-2024 school year is this Friday, June 14th! As a reminder, we do not sanction any "skip days", including the last day of school. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 pm.
SUMMER WORK
Please review this document for details regarding student summer work.
STUDENT MEDICATIONS
Student medications must be picked up at the nurse's office by the parent, guardian
or parent/guardian-designated responsible adult by dismissal (12:30 pm) on the last day of school.
This is in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.
Students may come to the nurse's office directly to pick up their medication on the last day
of school ONLY if their physician’s order says that they can self carry or self administer
their medication. If you are unsure if your student can self carry or self administer their
medication, please reach out to Nurse Healy directly (courtney.healy@watertown.k12.ma.us).
Student medications that are not picked up by this time will not be accessible over summer
vacation! If your student needs their medication during the summer months, please be
sure to pick it up from Nurse Healy on the last day of school - even if your
student is participating in a Watertown Public School summer program. Otherwise, you will
not be able to access this medication during the summer! Any medication that your student
requires during a summer program must be delivered directly to the nurse who is
responsible for that summer program.
Please see the entire letter from our nurses here.
REPORT CARD REMINDER
Quarter 4 report cards will be mailed home instead of being handed out to students during the school day.
