Seniors,
Mr. LaBrake and I will be starting a Senior Spotlight for the Class of 2024. Every day, we will highlight a senior with their name and picture in random order. This will be posted to Swan Valley High School Facebook page and the Live Feed on the Website. There are 42 of you who have NOT turned in your senior picture! If you are one of the 42 please turn in your senior picture as soon as possible! I do not want to leave anyone out. I hope this project makes you feel special as that is our intent.
Thanks!
Ms. Hanson

Saginaw ISD CTE
HSC and Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Program!
Hello from Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) and Michigan Technological University!
This summer, Michigan Tech’s Summer Youth Programs office is again partnering with HSC to offer scholarships for students from Midland, Gratiot, Bay, and Saginaw counties to attend an engineering summer camp - for free! The scholarship will cover all costs (including transportation) required to attend the Engineering Scholars Program (ESP) that will run June 23-28, 2024.
Engineering Scholars is a weeklong investigation of Engineering careers featuring special topic presentations, interactive group projects, and lab tours. During the course, students get insider info from role models working in engineering fields, will be exposed to many different types of engineering, and will learn from Michigan Tech faculty, staff, and #CrazySmart graduate students!
Preference will be given to current juniors, however, ALL students currently in grades 9-11 are encouraged to apply. This year, there is NO application deadline. Instead, scholarship decisions will be made monthly until all seats are filled. We encourage all applicants to submit as soon as they are able. An overview and all relevant paperwork are available under the “Engineering Scholars Program” on the website.
Hemlock Semiconductor believes that education is a great equalizer, allowing students from all backgrounds to become anything they choose to be. One of the ways they emphasize the value of education is through community partnerships to develop programs that engage students and ignite their interest in STEAM. Michigan Tech is excited to be part of this effort.
Feel free to contact Michigan Tech’s Summer Youth Programs office with any questions at syp@mtu.edu - we are excited to see some of your students in the Engineering Scholars Program this summer!
