It's been another great week at Lester! Students did a great job following expectations during the Bus Evacuation drill. In addition, our 2nd and 5th graders went to the Morton Arboretum on field trips this week. Students enjoyed their outdoor learning!

This week was our first PTA meeting of the year. I was able to share information about safety in district 58. Thank you to all who attended.

Our after school club sign ups are now officially open. All information is included here. There are limited spots so please be sure to sign up if your child is interested! Our PTA committee has worked hard to find clubs of varying interests to include the most students. Thank you to them for their work!

Each week during announcements, we will review a different location of expectations. Next week, we will review how to be respectful, responsible, and safe in the lunchroom!

Shout out to all of our students who ran for positions. The posters and speeches were very creative! Those students will be a part of student council as well! Great job, everyone!

Volunteering for a classroom party includes:

• working with the other parent volunteers to create fun and exciting games/crafts/trivia/stories for the kids to enjoy
• confirming games and groups with the teacher prior to the party
• keeping the kids engaged for the full hour of class

**PLEASE REMEMBER NO FOOD OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED

Please use this form if you wish to volunteer for a CLASSROOM PARTY throughout the year.

You may sign up for as many parties as you wish and we will do the best we can to ensure everyone has the opportunity to work at least one party during the school year. However, we cannot guarantee you will work a classroom party for each of your students. It all depends on the amount of volunteers.

Please fill out a separate form for each student. (i.e. if you have 3 students you wish to volunteer for please fill out 3 forms - they are very short)

This year's Culture Fair will be held on Thursday November 7th.

We are planning to have 6-8 rooms, each representing a different country/culture from around the world respectfully and as authentically as possible. We are looking for room hosts as well as other parent volunteers that can help with the logistics of the evening. We welcome any parent that is interested in participating and helping.

If interested, please fill out this Google form or email culturalfair@lesterpta.com by Sunday September 22nd. Please include what country/culture you'd like to represent or if you want to more broadly support this event. We will have two planning sessions before this event - Wednesday September 25 and Wednesday October 23rd in the evening at the Downers Grove Public Library. District 58's administrative offices are moving to the new Downers Grove Civic Center, effective Monday, Sept. 30. Our new address is:

Parent-teacher conference sign up will open Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at www.PowerPTC.net. The sign-up window will close Friday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.

Conferences will take place on the evenings of Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
