We have more exciting news for you as we head into the spring. Mark your calendars!! The HS Athletics Office will be hosting our second Commitment Day of the 2023-2024 school year on Thursday, April 4th. The Commitment Day event will be open to any SENIOR student-athlete who is planning on playing a sport at the next level (DI, DII or DIII).
- STUDENTS are responsible for signing up for this event, they can stop into the East Wing Athletics Office in the HS to sign up and get more information.

NCAA Clearinghouse and Collegiate Athletics
We are excited to announce that the Athletic Department, in collaboration with the high school Counseling Department, will be hosting a parent/guardian information meeting focused on collegiate athletics.
- Event Details:
- Date: February 28, 2024
- Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- Location: High School Cafeteria
- What to Expect: During this informative session, we will cover essential topics related to collegiate athletics, including the NCAA Clearinghouse requirements. Additionally, we are excited to welcome a guest speaker who will share valuable insights and advice about navigating the collegiate athletics landscape.
- Who Should Attend: Parents and guardians of student-athletes are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting. Student-athletes themselves are also welcome to join their parents as we explore the opportunities and requirements associated with collegiate athletics.
- Why Attend: Understanding the intricacies of collegiate athletics and the NCAA Clearinghouse process is crucial for both student-athletes and their families. This meeting will provide valuable information to help you support your student-athlete's aspirations and make informed decisions about their future.

Boys Basketball
The Warriors had a competitive week of basketball. The Warriors played Central Bucks West and won with a score of 54-51. Christian Matos played very hard and competed in the game while scoring 19 points. The next game the Boys Basketball team played was a District Quarterfinal against Garnet Valley. After quite the battle, the Warriors lost 64-53. Alex Hermann was a key contributor for the team with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. We look forward to another competitive week and challenges ahead. Go Warriors!

Cheerleading
The Varsity Cheerleaders cheered on the Boys Basketball team in two exciting District 1 playoff games against CB West and Garnet Valley. The packed gym and adrenaline-packed play made for two fun evenings for the Warriors. This week, we look forward to wrapping up the season alongside the team, starting with Tuesday at home!
Boys Swimming
This past weekend 10 boys traveled to York, Pa to compete in District 1 Championships. Most boys had near best or personal best times in their events:

We will continue to practice for another week to see if we will have a relay or two qualify for State Championships.
Girls Swimming
With the regular season coming to end here is the all-conference team.
Madison Wimmer all conference 1st team in 200 IM and 100 Free.
Truly Sommer honorable mention in 500 free
The 400 free relay team of Truly Sommer, Lucy Michel, Sam Cancro, and Madison Wimmer honorable mention.
The district 1 meet was concluded this weekend. Senior Madison Wimmer placed 3rd in both of her events - 200 free and 500 free earning berths in both events at the PIAA state meet.
Truly Sommer placed 33rd in 200 IM and 21st in 500 free.
Izzy Ketterer placed 34th in 100 breast
Lucy Michel placed 39th in 50 free
Madison Wimmer is the only swimmer moving on to post season and will be training for the PIAA State Meet in March.
Girls Winter Track
The Girls Winter Track and Field Team competed at the PA State Championships held at Penn State University on Sunday afternoon. The meet features the best athletes from all 1500 public and private schools throughout the state, including many that will advance to the National Championship level.
Senior Summer Mellow, an athlete that has qualified for the National Championships in 2 weeks in 4 events, finished in 10th place in the 200m dash with a personal best and the #3 all-time performance in Methacton history with a time of 25.30 seconds. The two athletes ahead of Mellow on the Methacton list, Caroline Duffy and Ryann Krais, were also Division 1 scholarship athletes in track and field. Mellow anchored the 4x200 relay, which included Nicole Walsh, Jillian McTamney and Kenslee O'Donnell, to their best performance of the season in a time of 1:45.90 and a 15th place finish. That performance was #4 on the All-Time Methacton list. Mellow also competed in the Long Jump and placed 19th in PA. Kenslee O'Donnell was off to a great start in the 60m hurdles and unfortunately clipped one that threw her off. Despite the mishap, O'Donnell was strong enough to finish the race in an outstanding time of 9.82 seconds and a 23rd place finish. O'Donnell holds the 6th fastest time in Methacton history in the event. The 4x800 Relay of Marlie Klein, Julianna Trigone, Molly Thomas and Kate Thomas ran their 2nd fast time of the season, 9:54.80, to a 17th place finish in the meet. The quartet holds the 4th fastest time in the sport at Methacton.
The 4x200 Relay, 4x800 Relay, Summer Mellow and Marlie Klein have all qualified for the National Championship Meet to be held in 2 weeks. The Lady Warriors had an outstanding season, which included school record performances in the 55m dash, 60m dash, 3000m run and 3200m run, as well as numerous All-time Top Ten performances. Their focus now turns towards the spring season.
Wrestling
Shumaker Wins District Title
Matty Shumaker captured the District 1 North title at Perkiomen Valley High School this past Saturday. Shumaker won the 160-pound weight class in dominating fashion. The Warrior junior recorded a 15-0 technical fall in the quarterfinal, a fall in the semifinal and a 17-1 technical fall in the championship tilt. His record currently stands at 34-3. The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the PIAA Southeast Regional Tournament this weekend at Oxford High School.
Other Methacton wrestlers who will be making the trip to Oxford are Dylan Pachik and Ryan Hayes. Competing at 215-pounds, Pachik pinned has first two opponents before falling in the championship bout to the number one ranked wrestler in the state - Owen J. Roberts' Dillon Bechtold. Ryan Hayes finished in third place at 127-pounds. Hayes went 4-1 on the day. In his consolation final Hayes avenged an early season loss to Boyertown's Andrew Myslinski with a 9-5 victory.
Finishing in sixth place were Joey Simko, Collin O'Neill and Gavin Rose.
Unified Bocce
Methacton 1 qualified for the Montgomery County Bocce Championship which will be held at Upper Merion High School on Monday February 26th, beginning at 3:15 pm. The top 2 teams in Lower Montgomery and the top 2 teams in Upper Montgomery based on regular season rankings advanced to this championship. The following schools will be competing:
- Upper Merion – 7.38 average points - #1 seed
- Methacton – 6.50 average points - #2 seed
- Plymouth Whitemarsh – 6.25 average points - #3 seed
- Springfield Township – 6.14 average points - #4 seed
