ESU #3 ELC Omaha Region Newsletter
ESU #3 ELC Omaha Region
Established in 1971, the Week of the Young Child® is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), "to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs." NAEYC adds, it’s "a time to recognize that children's opportunities are our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment—at home, at child care, at school, and in the community—that will promote their early learning."

ESU #3 ELC Omaha Region Partner Sponsored Training
Let's spend the day diving into the "why" behind our daily work as early childhood professionals. There will be opportunities to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from each other.
During this conference, participants will
- reflect on their own teaching philosophy - their "why" - and how what we do and how we do it matters
- gain a deeper understanding of how seemingly simple interactions and activities can be used to nurture young children's cognitive, social, and emotional development
- gather practical, evidence-based strategies for incorporating intentional practice into their daily routines and activities

We all know that children do not learn the exact same skills at the exact same time. However, as a quality child care provider, you also recognize when a child is not developing skills as expected for their age. The good news is you don’t just have to watch and worry.
The Early Development Network (EDN) provides services to children birth through two years of age in all Nebraska School Districts. A concerned parent can contact their local school district to receive a free developmental evaluation to help them determine if their child is delayed in developing skills. When a child is eligible for EDN services, trained professionals will help families (and you) know the best way to help their child grow and learn.
All Nebraska school districts are obligated to provide services beginning at birth for children who meet eligibility criteria and demonstrate a need for early intervention. To make a referral, use the school district contact numbers below:
