The SHARK Alert

Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,

The first week of school went by in a flash! It was wonderful to see our smiling SHARKS return to school and eager to begin a year of learning and fun. In addition to new staff, there are also new students at CES. We were so proud of our SHARKS for reaching out and making all of our new additions feel welcome!

As we move forward in the school year, you can expect to receive the SHARK Alert (our school newsletter) on Sunday afternoons. We do our best to make sure that the SHARK Alert is up to date with all the most important information for students and their families, including community events. Please take a few minutes to review before the week begins and please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.

This week you can expect to receive a hard copy of the CES After School Club Catalog for Session I. There are a wide range of clubs offered by CES staff and community members for all grade levels. Clubs take place from 2:15 to 3:15 each week day. See the catalog for more details and please register as soon as possible so we can ensure every student that wants to participate in a club has the chance to do so.

On behalf of the incredible staff at CES, I want to thank you for your continued support of our school and community. We feel incredibly blessed to be part of this incredible community of learners. It is truly a gift to be a SHARK!

The Chatham Elementary School School Council is looking for members for the 2024-2025 school year. The school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of principal, parents, teachers, and community members. This important group has a role in preparing the school's improvement plan, and a role in shaping the school's achievement of the professional development and parent involvement goals.

This group meets 2-3 times a year. We welcome new and returning members. If interested or if you have questions, please reach out to Dr. Kelly at jakelly@monomoy.edu. Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 19th. Time to be determined by consensus of the committee members.

The Chatham Elementary Handbook is the best source for all things CES. Please put aside some time before school starts to review the many policies and procedures outlined in the CES Handbook. All families are also asked digitally acknowledge they have access and have read the Handbook. You can find the Handbook and Signature/Acknowledgement site HERE.

To prepare for the start of the school year, we ask that all families take a moment to review the information listed in Aspen and make any needed changes.

This simple process ensures that we have accurate contact information for you.

1. Log into your Aspen account
2. Follow the workflow to review the information currently in Aspen, such as address, contact phone number, etc., and make any necessary changes
3. If you would like to receive text messages from the district along with our other communications tools (such as email and app), please ensure that your cell phone number is listed in the field reading ‘Phone number to receive texts’
4. Families will also be able to submit health information and authorizations for students
5. Please complete this process prior to the start of school on September 3, 2024
6. Please complete all information as fully and accurately as possible

If you don’t know your Aspen password or remember your login ID, use the "Trouble logging in?" link on Aspen's login screen using the email address we have on file. If you are not able to complete this process online or need translation support, please contact the front office of your student’s school and they can help you.
