Message from the Principal
Wildcat Families,
As we wrap up our first full week as an entire school community, I’d just like to share some highlights and updates in regards to what’s been happening these first couple of weeks here at school.
We welcomed our Kindergarteners this week and they have done amazingly well, learning how to be safe, respectful and responsible. They’ve learned how to be “PAX Quiet” in class, can walk in line down the hallway using their “0-inch voices,” and can do it with “PAX Hands and Feet.” So fun to see their growth in just a few days.
All of our students are working towards earning their classroom PAXport, demonstrating that they can be safe, respectful and responsible throughout all areas of the school. Students have showed us the Wildcat Way on the bus, in the cafeteria, at recess and are working with teachers to practice safe and respectful behavior throughout the school. This teaching and practice establishes consistency in expectations for all of us Wildcats.
This week, students in grades 1-5 worked on their baseline reading and math assessments which help inform our planning and support for students. We lead small group instruction that targets specific skill areas based on this information.
We’re kicking off math instruction using a new curriculum called iReady Classroom Mathematics, which asks students to try and explore math using numerous strategies and ways of thinking that they present and share with each other and the class. We’re excited to build mathematicians working together to learn math in a different way this year!
Our PSO met this week and has lots of needs for volunteers at our Harvest Festival coming up on Friday, September 27. If you’d like to help, please visit the PSO Volunteer page. A background check is required of all CFT volunteers. Information about background checks and a few other volunteer requirements can be found here.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Sincerely,
Tim, Principal
Mensaje del Director
Familias Wildcat,
Atentamente,
Tim, Director

Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Your feeder schools are excited to invite you to our Hispanic Heritage Celebration in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, 2024. The celebration will be held at Fowler Middle School on October 16, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM, we're aiming to make this year’s event even more memorable than the last!
Last year’s celebration was filled with incredible dishes shared by our families and generous contributions from local Tigard businesses. It was a true community effort, with collaboration from CFT, MWW, MET, FMS and THS, We're hoping to build on that success this year. We would love to see more families share a dish from their culture, though it’s completely optional.
As we continue to organize this event, we’re welcoming the support of parents and local businesses. Your participation—whether it’s through contributing a dish, donating, or simply attending—will help make this celebration a wonderful reflection of our diverse community.
Thank you in advance for being part of this special event. Your feeder schools can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
