Parent Volunteers & Field Trip Chaperones - New Requirement this year
Parents and family members play an important role in our students' lives here at school and at home. We appreciate all of our family/parent volunteers to support our students here at school and attend field trips as chaperones. To keep our students safe, SPPS is requiring all volunteers and field trip chaperones to clear background checks. If you think you will be going on a fieldtrip this school year or would like to volunteer in the school to work with our students, please contact Neftali Ramirez to get a background check. The cost will be covered by the district. We encourage you to do it now so you can participate in any fieldtrips your child may go on this year. They do take a few days to process. Please call the family room at 651-744-2947 or fill out the form here if you are interested and someone will reach out to you.
Food and Treats Policy for Celebrations and Birthdays
In many cultures, we often show our love and care through sharing food and treats. We understand how important this is, especially when it's our birthday, or a special occasion, like Halloween or Valentine's Day. However, we have a growing number of students with health and nutritional needs that can be put at risk if exposed to certain foods. Rather than excluding our students from celebrations, we would like to have all of our classrooms find ways to celebrate and have fun together in ways that do NOT involve food. If you would like for your child to share something with their classmates, please make sure it's NOT a food item. We can NOT put our students at risk. Please work with your child's teacher for some ideas that do not involve food. Thank you for keeping our students' health and safety first. Please call Principal Xiong or Nurse Michelle if you have any questions or concerns.

Meet Zaj, our friendly school mascot dragon!
Our students attended their Welcome Assemblies last week. Students met our school mascot, Zaj, and reviewed our school rules and ways we could show Dragon Pride here at school so we can all do our best learning this year. Please ask your child about the 4 Be's at school. Each student got a school t-shirt with an awesome message on the back, "Peb haib haib", which in the Hmong language means, "We are awesome". Each grade gets a different color. Last week, every single one of our students and staff went to our field and took a picture together. Even Zaj was there! This is our school community and we can't wait to show you our awesome Txuj Ci Picture for this 24-25 school year. Each Friday is school pride day. Please encourage your child to wear their school t-shirt or something from their culture that they are proud of.
